Please help! Hcg 79!

My doctor called today and said my hcg is 79! My last menstrual cycle was July 22..am I okay?

According to this link,  there is a huge range of normal at 5 weeks,  an hcg reading between 18-7000.

The level alone doesn't tell much. You need another blood draw done in 48 hours to see what that level does.

My first pregnancy test was a faint positive but now is clearly positive shouldn't that mean my hcg is going up? If it's going up slowly is that bad?

Tests don't actually tell what your hCG is doing. They only look for the hormone, not how much there is. The colour intensity of a line actually has to do with the amount of dye in the test. There CAN be tests that are faint if there's not much of the hormone present, but a fading/darkening test line doesn't tell you definitively if the hCG is increasing/decreasing.

Slowly rising levels can be bad, but not always. It might indicate miscarriage, Ectopic pregnancy or you could just have a normal pregnancy with low rising hCG. You definitely need another test done.

Also, how dark the line is reflects how dilute (or not) your urine is, not anything about the progress of the pregnancy.
