Posibility of falling pregnant 2 weeks after DNC

Posibility of falling pregnant 2 weeks after DNC

I have recently lost my Baby, I had a DNC 2 weeks ago. I no longer displayed any of my Pregnancy symptoms a couple of days after the DNC. I Bled after the DNC for about 3 days(not heavy), then stopped for about 2 days, after that time I had (what I think was my period- not long either). I am no longer bleeding. After feeling the symptoms I felt before, Sore breasts, wanting to go to the toilet often, Nausea.. I decided to get a home pregnancy test. I thought it would show negative, because its only been 2 weeks, but to my amazement it came up as positive.
My question is, can I actually be pregnant again after such a short time after having the DNC, or is it just high levels of "hormones" that would cause the test to come back as positive?

First off, sorry for your loss.

It is possible to become pregnant this soon after a d&c, but it could also be residual HCG from the pregnancy you lost. Did you follow your levels back to zero -- preferably with a blood test, but even with a negative HPT between?

I did not have a d&c with my m/c and it took almost 3 months for my levels to be zero...ladies with d&cs will probably have more to say.

Why don't you call your doc and request 2 blood tests 2 days apart to see if the numbers are going up (new pregnancy) or down (residual HCG)?

Good luck...hope you get the answers you're looking/hoping for.

i had a D&C on December 5th due to a missed miscarriage. it took me almost 2 months to get back to normal levels. i got af right after and did conceieve the very next cycle.

you are not supposed to have sex for 2 weeks after a d&c though. it is very risky because the cervix is not closed yet. you can get a uterine infection. i agree with wonderme, you need a blood test, then another two days later to see which way your hcg is going.

i was testing positive for 7 weeks after my d&c due to left over hcg.

best wishes

Hi... I guess I'll fill you in with some info before my question. I'm 25 years old and have been pregnant 5 time in the last 3 years. My first pregnancy was a miscarry, then my second (3months later) was successful (healthy baby boy) I delivered 6 weeks early, my third (a year later) was an eptopic and my right tube was removed, my forth (18 months later) was also an eptopic but was in the stump of my right tube at which point the rest of that tube was removed and my last pregnancy (four months later) was a natural misscarry (08/09/07) no D&C done. For this last pregnancy I have had a lot of blood work done to check my HCG levels. My first HCG Level was done 07/27/07 and was 157 then on 07/29/07 it was 277 then on 07/31/07 it was 133. By the ninth I started to bleed...it wasn't as much as the doctor said it would be but definitely different then AF. My doctor said that he wanted more blood work done two weeks later to make sure my HCG levels were back to normal on 08/29/07 my level was 73.8... wasn't low enough so on 08/05/07 I had more blood drawn only to our surprise my level is going back up it was 98. So now for my question... Could this be the old pregnancy making this level rise or would it be a new one (my husband and I never use "protection") It just seems a little early to think that this could be a new baby.

Thanks,
Amanda
