I don't have any answers for you but I did want to say at least they found it on you. See I passed my one hour glucose test but when my DD was born she was very unresponsive and all she wanted to do was sleep and she wouldn't even eat. They concluded that she had low sugar and that I had gest. diabetes but they didn't pick up on it. So you are lucky, in a sense, that they picked up on yours. I am sure evrything will be fine, I just wanted to share my exp. so you didn't feel tooo bad. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

My mom bought it for me at Shopko--one of our local retailers.  I am sure either a Wal-mart or Target will carry it.  It is a carb counting for all the major food chains.  Tells you what is in each thing on the menu at most major food chains.  Also, I believe you can go online and look at diabetic diets.  Do not use gestational--for hardly anything shows up.  I found it very difficult in the pregnancy for that.  Also, try and have your husband understand how hard this is going to be for you.  If he does the cooking, unlike mine, have him understand what a good dinner is for someone with this problem.  When you go on this diet, you will probalby lose some of the  weight---alot of water at least I did--I was measuring off the chart for a while--I also found out I was diabetic much sooner than nine weeks left--I had to do this for 13 weeks.  Also, make sure you do some walking if not to uncomfortable--seems to help keep things moving in the right direction.

thanks!!  this is my biggest problem...i eat pretty good, really.  dinners are all veggies and a protein.   I dont eat meat so i focus on veggies and tofu.  I just find this so weird.  I dont eat junkfood except for that once a day snack like chocolate or a water ice.  Mainly I guess I will be cutting out bread ( i eat a pbj a day) and cut down on cheese.  I am not too knowledgable but I dont think my diet includes anything else bad.  I will look into a book, thanks.

I forgot--your doctor will probalbly have you come in for a stress every week from about 4 or 5 wks until delivery--just to make sure the baby is responding correctly and there is not to mcuh stress on baby.  I also had one more u/s to make sure thtat he was not getting to big. Was nice to see in the late stage.  DS son turned out to be 8 lbs. 8.5 oz--nice size baby--And they say the more active they are in the womb the more active they will be outside--I believe it for my guy who in 31/2 is onthe go for the 13 hrs he is up a day.

Yikes, you poor thing if it is not one thing it is another. No clue in how to answer your question. Just want you to know I am here and I care!!!  Sis had diabetes terrible during her pregnancy and she let me give her the insulin shots!!! :) What fun that was for me since she was so evil while we were growing up. I am sure your doc can manage yours with diet alone.

I had this with my first pregnancy---I ate a lot of chicken breasts with no skin, broccoli soup.  Just because it says sugar free there are still carb's watch out for that.  You can eat eggs, bacon, sausage, hams--many different meats.  One of my favorite breakfasts--yogurt with grape nuts and a fruit---it is not recommended for fruit in the morning but I found that it filled me up and lasted a long time--so the benefit was better for me.  I ended up only gaining a total of 17 lbs with the pg.  Had a very healthy baby boy--I may did the extreme for I hardly ate any breads of pasta's and measured everything-- used a diabetic diet to help a lot.  I did not see a dietician for my doctor believed I could do it on my own.  He said that if I started showing to  much weight or really bad sugar numbers then he would have to send me and maybe be put on insulin.  I would suggest just to watch high Carb intake--white starches, pasta and bread.  natural carbs or okay in moderation.  Just watch out at the end of the pg when you can eat--don't go over board--you will get sick.  if you have any other questions please let me know.

I'm hate to hear that, but I know you'll be able to get through it just fine. When did they test you for that?

I just tested positive for GD last week and have already seen my doctor for the diet. I also have to test my blood sugars 4 times a day and I am only borderline. My diet is 30carbs for breakfast 15 carbs for am snack 60 carbs for lunch 15 carbs for afternoon snack 60 carbs for dinner and 30 carbs for bed time snack. I have to test my blood 1 hour after every meal. The doctor said sometimes they have to change the diet the farther along you get (I am 30 weeks), but so far it is working well fir me. She even gave me a fast food counter (example: Mcdonalds 6 peice chicken nugget and small fry is only 60 carbs, so if I feel I need fast food I do have opions)

They did tell me i would be having a monthly ultrasound (to make sure the baby didn't get to big) and the stress test to monitor her. The menu really consist of how many carbs/calories you are allowed per meal. They also told me to walk or swim 30 minutes a day. An example is 1 carb serving is a spice of bread or half of a hamburger or hot dog bun. About 1 cup of fruit is also a serving of carbs. 8oz of skim milk is a carb, or 1/2 cup cooked veggies (carrots, mashed patatoes, corn). 1/2 cup fat free frozen yogart is also a serving of carbs.

By the way tofu and cheese are considered meat, which you can have as much of it as you want its carb free

I just had my baby and had gestational diabetes. I ate a bowl of cereal (rice krispies) for breakfast with a piece of toast. OR 2 eggs and toast.  For lunch I usually ate a sandwich with meat and cheese and a few chips. For dinner I ate whatever we made but just one helping. For snacks between meals I ate nuts and cashews. My blood sugar was totally fine using that diet. I only drank tea, water, or diet soda.

The only time my blood sugars were high was when I ate out at restaurants. No matter where I ate they were always high and especially high with fast food.

Most of the time they do sonos at 35 and 38 weeks to check the babies size because they can grow larger with the extra sugars. Also they do the non stress tests 2 times a week at the very end to check on the baby. My baby was perfect each time and showed no stress. Her blood sugars did drop when she came out and they had me nurse her right away. That didn't help so they gave her some formula and then had me nurse her again and then her sugars leveled out. She was a healthy 8lb 3oz at birth.

The best part was the fact that once I started on this diet I didn't gain another pound the rest of the pregnancy. I only ended up gaining 17 lbs the whole pregnancy.
