Postpartum

How long did you bleed after the birth of your baby.  I'm going on 3.5wks.  It has lighten up but still there.  I was just wondering if this was considered normal.

yep I am still bleeding too!!  Dr said it can go for up to 6 weeks,,,,,ugh!

I bled for 6 weeks. I know it isn't fun, but it will stop.

I had a csection and bleed for 4 weeks. I am just wondering when I will start again.... its been 8 and a half weeks already.

I think that depends on whether you're breastfeeding, or at least that's what i've picked up from reading these boards.

Midwife I know says that it has to to with how much greens you get.  She perscribes Chlorophyl (sic) from the healthfood store (pills).  I couldn't find them Kosher, but I was a spinach junkie while I was pg.  My sis-in-law who had the pills bled for about 2 weeks.  I bled for about 6 days.  The topic came up because one of sis-in-law's friends was bleeding for 10 weeks!  Worth a try, at least.  As far as I know breastfeeding helps the uterus contract to normal size and has nothing to do with bleeding.  I was not able to breastfeed because I had cancer.  Woman who was bleeding for 10 weeks was a dedicated breastfeeder.

I bled for a little over 3 weeks.  It's normal to bleed for a while.  My sil bled for like 3 months when she finally went to the doctor and they put her on the pill.  I think she's an idiot, I would never let myself go 3 months bleeding.

4 weeks is about average.  Some women bleed less, some bleed more.
