Pregnancy- no gestational sac

Hi- I have had 2 pregnancies in the last 10 months where there was a gestational sac but no fetus ever developed. With both pregnancies, I had a lot of bleeding and ended up having to terminate. I just started trying again 1 month ago and got my period at the regular time for the regular length. But, 2 days ago, my breasts were sore so I took a pregnancy test and it was positive. I went to the Dr for a vaginal ultrasound but they did not see anything. The Dr. said I am probably miscarrying again, due to the fact that I had a period, but there is a slight possibility it is a viable pregnancy and too early to see anything. I'm so scared and so defeated. Has this happened to anyone else?

I had a M/C in September of last year.  There was an irregular shaped sack but no baby.  This was explained to me as a blighted ovum.  I did have some bleeding and had to have a D&C.

Of course, there are lots of stories on here where the US showed no baby or hb and a few days later the US could them the baby.  Do you know how far along you should be?  Very early pregnancies might only show a sac or a thickening on the US.

Good luck to you.  A M/C is so painful.  I am sorry you have to go through this.

I m/c last year due to the same problem - had a sac but no baby in it.  I was supposed to be 9w but sac measured 6w6d.  It was a blighted ovum - where the sac grows but baby never does.  This happened June 06.  In Sept. 06 had a chemcial pregnancy.  I got pregnant again in Oct 06 and now 35w2d.  Maybe you were to early to see anything.  How far along are you.  My dr told me you can't see anything unless you have an HCG over 2000.

How soon after your period did you take a pregnancy test? In early pregnancy they wont see a sac sometimes.

If it's real early they won't see anything. Are they having you come back in a few wks for another U/S? I can only imagine how frustrated you are. I wish you good luck and just to let you know at my 5wk u/s they couldn't see much either. I got scared as hell, but things are fine now. I'm 21wks pregnant with a baby girl. So try to keep your head up. Good luck keep us updated.

Keep your head up.  I have heard of plenty of people who had thier periods almost the whole time they were pregnant.  Have you taken another test?   Last Nov I tested positive and when I went to the doctors he told me it was faint and it was probably a chemical pregnancy.  I didn't believe that he could diagnose somthing like that without an u/s or exam.  Sure enough a couple days later I bleed.  I tested again and it was negative.  You got your positive after you had your period so it doesn't sound like the same thing.  I know its hard but all you can do right now is wait.  Good luck
