Pregnancy and Headaches

by shm79, Oct 30, 2006 12:00AM
Hi.  I am currently 12 weeks 6 days pregnant, and have been having the most awful headaches on and off for the past week or so.  I have read that headaches are normal due to all of the hormones, (I am taking 50mg of progesterone nightly).  Does anyone know of a natural way to relieve some of this headache pain.  I had 2 m/c before, and I don't even want to take a tylonal.  If anyone could offer some advice on how to relieve some of the pain it would be greatly appreciated!

I'm so sorry you have to deal with that pain on top of being pregnant.  I suffer from migraines...typically once a week but for some reason during my pregnancies they disappear, so I'm opposite.  I never had one headache or migraine during my pregnancy.

I would take the tylenol....the stress and pain of the headache is probably harder on your body.  You can also talk to your dr about safe natural alternatives...but herbs can be more dangerous as they are untested.

HI!  We are very close!  Are you due May 9th?  Anyhow I felt like I had to respond because, I've been getting the same thing for the past two days.  Headaches combined with a bit of dizziness. I'm not sure what it is and am also reluctant to take anything.  I have taken 1 tylonol when I came down with a little cold two weeks ago.  I really didnt want to take it but I was really sick.  I know you dont want to but maybe 1 tylonol, some tea and a nap might do the trick.  Maybe its because of were we are in our pregnancies.  Because this just started happening I've noticed.  In fact, I have a bit of a headache now.  Sorry I know I probably wasn't much help but, at least you know your not alone. :-)

around 12 weeks i went through the exact same thing.  i know you really do not want to take anything, but you really need to take the tylenol and you will feel better.  maybe lay in a dark, quiet room, too?

I am due on May 8th!  My headaches seem to come and go, but I can never completly kick it.  Right now i have a touch of one, I also made an eye doctor appt. b/c they seem to get worse when I read (which is a lot), watch tv, or am on the computer.  Maybe on top of the pregnancy headache I need stronger glasses too??

I am in a very high risk pregnancy and had my first migrane last week.  I took two tylonel (Dr. Told me to) and it went away.  I wait till it is horrible pain but I do take them.

I also had horrible headaches at 13 weeks - luckily they only lasted a week or two and I haven't had them since... take tylenol or maybe ask the doctor for something stronger! good luck
