Pregnancy and IBD

Anyone on here have any experience with trying to get pregnant and having IBD?  My doctor says it shouldn't affect me, but since I'm having problems with ovulation, I am concerned that the two may be related in some way.

Any info would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease such as Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis.

Is it at all possible that it could be related to PCOS. Have you been checked for that because as I found out irritable bowel and disorders like it can be a symptom PCOS. My doctor told me that things like IBS, diabeties and high blood pressure can all be side effects of PCOS that is severe. Just check out the other side effects and see if you have any as this could be a cause for not falling pregnant. Good Luck.

Well my docto thinks PCOS may be a possibility, but doesn't want to fully considering it until he rules out other possibilities.  My IBD (Crohn's) is different from IBS and is actually an auto-immune disorder with genetic factors.  My doctor said it shouldn't affect my ability to get pregnant, but I have read that women with Crohn's are often subfertile due to poor nutrition absorption and over activity of the immune system.  I'm also 5'3" and about 100 pounds, but he said that since my weight has been stable for 5 years and my estrogen levels were all normal, he doesn't think that is a problem.

Just wondering if there were other women with either Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis trying to get pregnant or had gotten pregnant and what their experiences were like.
