Pregnancy and the Dentist

My sister is 9 months pregnant - planning to be induced in a week and a half. She found out she has an absessed (sp?) tooth and they have to do a root canal they are planning for a week from today - only 4 days before she has the baby. Her doctor's wife had a baby yesterday and she can't reach him. The dentist told her that the antibiotics and Tylenol PM are okay to take while pregnant. Is this true? Has anyone had anything like this done at this far along and is there anything she should really be worried about? I worry about her because her doctor is 2 hours away from where she lives and where she goes to the dentist.

yes those medcines are okay i feel so bad she must be in a lot of pain

I would check with the docter that is covering for her docter. i agree it should be okay,but just for her peice of mind. and who knows maybe the baby will come before the root canal..labor pain, and excitment of the new little one may take away the tooth pain for the time being!

the infection needs to be taken care of now. the dentist should have cleared the meds with her ob before even seeing her.

2 weeks away from schedualed c-section. shocker i have a severe toothache, headache, now earache. i called dentist office hoping there
was a chance that there would be atleast one on call, negative!!( today is the 4th of freakin july). called my o.b. for guidence nothing! what can i do?. should i worry about infection before monday when i can get to dentist?

you could always go to the ER were thay will give you a shot of novacaine and antibiotics thats what thay do in my city but it is the 4th so there could be a wait good luck

went to er gave me cottonballs soaked in litacain(?) and anitbiotics. they said cottonballs would numb me up for a few hours i didnt even make it to the parking lot before i was in pain again. oh well monday hasnt gotten here soon enough! lol
