Pregnancy with 3 negative tests?

My cycle is about 30-32 days and I started my period on the 4th of August. On the 21st and 22nd of August I experienced very light, brown and pinkish discharge, then two days later after intercorse a little more. This alarmed me because my cycles are really regular within a couple of days and I have never had mid-cycle spotting. I suspected that I was pregnant, but it was too early to tell. I made an appointment with my OB-GYN and she gave me a pregnancy test (I thought it was too early) and it was negative. Then the day before I was to start, the 3rd of September, I took another pregnancy test, still negative. Now here I am four days late and still no period, I have been cramping a little and run to the bathroom almost sure I am going to start, and still nothing. I took another test this morning and still negative. Do I count from the suspected date of emplantation in order for me to be able to test positive on a pregnancy test because if I go by the first day of my last period, then I should be testing positive. I feel somewhat pregnant, but I am afraid my mind is playing tricks on me. My OB-GYN instructed me to take a pregnancy test every 3-4 days until I start my period or have a positive result. Why do I need to go through this unnecessary waiting if I couldn't be pregnant after being four days late on my period? If I am not pregnant, what could be the cause of this? I am not stressed out and would think of myself to be very healthy going by the fact that my periods are like clockwork and I see my OB-GYN once a year with normal paps. Could I still be pregnant?

Why doesn't your OB simply do a blood pregnancy test, rather than telling you to do a HPT every 3-4 days?  Good gosh, that would drive anyone crazy.

Settle the issue once and for all if you don't want to wait this out.

I don't know why she won't give me a blood test. I haven't asked for one, but I am guessing because I tested negative all these times she thinks I am not pregnant. I want to be so badly, even though we weren't exactly trying. What I want to know is how many people tested negative several times on HPT's and still ended up being pregnant.

My periods were always like clock work also and we were trying to conceive when I was due to start my period on a Friday and I didn't so I thought maybe I was because I always started right on time...So over the weekend I had gotten a really bad sinus infection so on Monday I went to the doctor and before they prescribed me medication for it I told them I thought I might be pregnant they did the urine test it was negative but I had my doubts so I went home and took another pregnancy test before taking the medication it was negative again...I took the medication...I was pregnant....I ended up miscarrying and I want to blame the medication I took but two miscarriages later we found out that my body doesn't produce enough progesterone to support a pregnancy and that's also why I couldn't detect pregnancy early because my levels were so low.....progestrone is part of your HCG levels....So this may be what you are experiencing???? A blood test detects any level of HCG low or not! I finally had a healthy baby girl but we had to do blood work right away when I thought I might be pregnant and then take progesterone injections right away twice a week to help support my pregnancy and it worked! I'm sure it's happened, but no one can tell you what the chances are of it happening to you.

Be sure you are using a first morning specimen when you havent' had anything to drink during the night.  The more concentrated the specimen, the more likely the test will be to pick up the HCG.  Also--be sure you are using a very sensitive test--look for the ones that say you can test the earliest.  Not all HPTs detect the same levels.

I took my last test this morning and still negative. My body is telling me something is going on and if I am not pregnant I am worried about what it could be. I have been bloated and cramping, back pain on my lower right side, tired (I am anyway), hungry, headaches every day, and nausea with out vomiting. Just feeling a little woosy sometimes and craving things, but not liking certain things I loved before. I do have a 5, almost 6 year old daughter and didn't have any problems conceiving then. I think I will call my OB-GYN to see if she'll do a blood test, then I will know for sure. I don't want to waste the time nor the money on testing every 3-4 days if I am not pregnant.

BTW- I am using the First Response HPT, the one that you are supposed to be able to test 3-4 days before your missed period. I read somewhere on the internet that it tests at a level of about 25 HCG's.

Buy another brand of test. FRER was recently changed and lots of ladies have been having problems with them. You may want to try Equate brand from walmart they seem to be very good and are very inexpensive. Good luck!

GOOD LUCK GIRL AND LET ME KNOW WHAT WORKS FOR YOU AND WHAT YOUR OB/GYN TELLS YOU BECUZ I'M FEELING THE SAME THING. ALL MY HPT HAVE BEEN COMING OUT NEG AND I TOOK A BLOOD TEST ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO AND IT HAD CAME BACK 1 ABOVE POSITIVE WHICH ACCORDING TO THE LAB WAS POSITIVE BUT THEN I TOOK ANOTHER BLOOD TEST A WEEK AFTER THAT AND IT CAME BACK NEG, I HAD BEEN SO HAPPY WITH THE BFP JUST TO FIND OUTTHAT IT WASN'T. I FEEL FRUSTRATED AS I'M SURE YOU ARE FEELING TOO. I FEEL THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS THAT YOU DO. SO PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOUR OB/GYN TELLS YOU.

When I was pregnant with both my kids (7 & 8 Months pregnant). My doctors said it was ok for me to have my yearly TB tests for work. I would just call your OB to make sure though since you are in the first trimester.

OOOoooooo.....i dread TB testing ever since the time i had an allergic reaction to the preservatives in the serum.
however, that is an awsome question...i think you should put a call into your ob about it.  i would think it would do any harm but it never hurts to ask.

I tested with First Response five day early hpt's on August 28th, 29th and 31st. These were cycle days 26, 27 & 29. All three were negative. Then two days later on Sep 2nd I took another test and it was positive. My positive was confirmed today with a blood test. You might want to ask for the blood test and that way you won't go crazy!!!

My problem: I have regular 30 day cycles and up till this month, my period has been very regular. in the middle of this month, I had some bleeding (light but reddish,not pinkish) which lasted for around 5 days. There were no cramps(unlike my normal period, however.
I have missed my period for the third day so far. but tested negative for pregnancy on the day after my period was due.

qn 1: Does ovulatory bleeding still mean that the period cycle continues as normal?

qn 2: is ovulatory bleeding detrimental to health? It only happens to me maybe thrice in a year and is usually not as severe as this time round.


Would be really grateful if someone can answer my qns.

Im a 24 year old woman. I had sex with my boyfriend on the 31st of July 2004 and got my regular periods on the 5th of August
2004. But this month I have not got my periods yet. Can you please tell me what might be the reasons why I have not got my

Hey, thanks for responding. I took a blood test on Wednesday and I am waiting for them to call me back with the results today. As of today I am 6 days late. At times I feel it couldn't be true that I am pregnant because of the negative tests and I am cramping on what I think to be my ovaries, but never start. I keep feeling like, okay, now I am starting for sure, but it's nothing. I am on pins and needles waiting for my procrastinating nurse to call me. I couldn't imagine getting a positive and then being told I am not pregnant, I feel for you. If we are both not pregnant, what is going on with us??? My body is telling me something is going on, but what is it? Let me know what happens with you.

hi there I think I 'm in the same vote as you i'm due for my period on the 4 of sept and I have all the same cramping as you like my period will come anyday I took a hpt neg and still no cycle I have been regular all the time and I was insemenated in July 19-20 and had a bleeding aug 4-8 and now nothing but I have cramps sore brests feels like I'm going to start anyday> I'm going to go have a blood test done next week if still nothing. Hi Fretchen!  My period was due 10/3/04 so I'm now 4 days late...  I've taken 3 HPT's 2 were negative and 1 had a VERY - VERY FAINT line (You almost needed a magnifying glass to see it! LOL)  I don't really know what to think at this point - I think I will test again tommorow morning 10/7/04 since I've read that morning urine is best for testing.  Sounds like you could have possibly been having implantation bleeding.  My sister had cramping with her first baby as it was implanting - that could be what you're feeling instead of menstral cramps...
I have not had any pregnancy symptoms except my nipples are sore (which is not uncommon when I am menstrating).  Some people say you just feel pregnant but so far I really don't.  I haven't been feeling anything!!  I hope and pray that I am - just don't want to get my hopes up...  Please let us all know how things turn out for you.  GOOD LUCK!! Here's my situation. I came off the pill 2 mths ago. Last month, I was 28 days. I was due to start 10/15 and I'm now 5 days late. Yesterday I noticed a light pink discharge but nothing more. I am having abdominal cramping, nasueau, and lower back pains. I took a pregnancy test 10/16 (I'm always regular) and it was negative and took another one this morning and it's still negative. My dr can't get me in until next week and I don't know what's going on. I have a 4yr old daughter and was extremely fertile and was pregnant in only a month's time with her and was able to detect it one day after my missed period. I have been having cramping off and on since last Thursday so I really don't know if my cycle is messed up from coming off of the pill or if I'm pregnant. Any advice?

I feel heavy in my pelvic area with slight cramping pain. This is day 32. I hope that I am not pregnant in my tudes. I am waiting for all the ladies here blood tests. Well on the 27 i took a test and it was negative so I waited till the 31 and tested agian it was also negative.  I have not had any signs of starting my peroid or being pregnate. I have two children. My menstrual is always on time. I am 10 days late now. I have taken 5 hpt. 2 blue clear and three 1st response and all negative. I am expierencing headaches and little bit of cramps. I too keep thinking its comming but its not. I'll make an appointment at my doctor for blood test. I also have been trying to work out if I am pregnant or not for days now. I had what I thought may be emplantation bleeding (2 days of very very light bleeding) on Wednesday, and 5 days later I have still not had a positive pregnancy test. I was convinced I was pregnant based on all the symptoms I have read about….i will get the results of a blood test tomorrow so will know for sure but how can such modern pregnancy tsets out in the shops be wrong, when they say they are so accurate….

Does anyone know if its not emplantation bleeding I had, what could it be?

well i m/c about 3 months ago with twin at 12 weeks , me and my boyfriend at the time decided to try again straight away but 2 weeks after i stoped bleeding we did start try only problem is we split up 2 weeks later over loosing the twins. I came on my first 2 periods on the 17 of both months but this month i still havent come on 2/weeks later i still havent come on. I dont no what to do i keep cramping nd do feel like im pregnaunt (pregnant) but the tests say negative im not a stressed and i cant see what could cause it , i dont feel sick but have very simular symptoms to when i was pregnaunt (pregnant) before.
