Pregnant & Type 1 Diabetic

I am a 35 year old type 1 diabetic and pregnant for the first time.  I worry constantly about the health of this baby.  Are there any type 1's out there and how is your pregnancy coming along?

I'd had type 1 diabetes for almost 10 years when I had my son.  It worried me to death, my mom's a nurse and never failed to tell me about all the worse case scenarios.  I was given a tour of the NICU as babies of diabetics tend to need to be started on an IV and perhaps a respirator, which is common and something they typically recover from.  I delivered a 7lb baby, four weeks early, who short of having some jaundice was a healthy little boy, no NICU needed.

I have had type 1 diabetes for 17 years.  My first son was healthy. They did all kinds of tests before I had him because my chances were much higher to have a baby with problems.  They induced my 2 weeks early and I had a healthy 8 pound 8 ounce boy.  I am currently preanant again.  This pregnancy has went very well so far.  Every sono they so they tell me how lucky I am to have such a healthy baby growing inside of me.  I have another u/s in 2 weeks to do an ekg on the baby's heart.  I keep very tight control on my blood sugars, but me and the baby seem to be doing very well.
