Pregnant or not

I started my period on Feb 1. I am a Sunday starter for my birth control. I missed pills on the 8th and 9th of February and then stopped taking them. I had unprotected sex the 10th 11th and 12th. I started spotting pink on the 13th and started  (breakthrough bleeding/ period) on the 14th-16th. As of today my breast are still tender and I am getting off and on nausea and headaches. I had unprotected sex on the 14th, 17th and 19th also. You can't be pregnant and experience breakthrough bleeding can you? I do want to get pregnant. Because now I am wondering if I was already pregnant, currently am pregnant or my body is playing with my mind!!!!

I have been on birth control for 3mths. I was really tempted to get an hpt yesterday but I did not want to disappoint myself. I though about waiting until I actually missed my period. I also want to start dieting but I guess I will have to wait.

You really should find out if you are pg so you can take care of yourself with proper diet and vitamins.  I know it's hard to see a BFN but you won't know until you find out.  And if you are stressing out about it then you should go get one and test it today.

I think it would be a little too early for a HPT to be (+). If you can, try to wait until your missed period. However some test do work before your missed period, but there is still a chance of a false negative if taken too early. I am of kind of in your same situation and have been waiting to test and going crazy. I am due for AF today and nothing yet, not even the usual symptoms.

Thanks, for all the comments but the only thing is I am not sure when to test. My actual period was due Feb 28. Since I stopped the pills and started spotting on Feb 13, do I count 28 days from Feb 13 or count 28 days from Feb 1? Then my af is expected Mar 12. It's so confusing!!!!!!!!

I would call the Dr. and ask them what they think about when you should start your period. And then see if they can bring you in for a blood test. That can detect pregnancy just a few days after inplantation (implantation), and that's going to be the most accurate. I wouldn't waste the money on buying an HPT yet. If you're not supposed to start until the 28th then you need to wait until atleast then or a couple of days after. I hope you get that BFP!! Good luck to you and keep us updated!

My last period was 1/19/2006 and mine is 33 days period.
My next period is due on 2/21/2006 .I had unprotected sex on 2/7 and 2/8(fertile days) .My breast are tender and I feel little pain in my breast.I dont have any other symptoms other than that.Do you think I am pregnant..Do I need to take hpt? Any suggestions..

Well normally ovulation would occur for you around the 16-17 day if I am correct. Which would be somewhere between Feb. 2-4. If you had unprotected sex the 2/7 and 2/8 I don't think that you may be pregnant then again who knows everyone is different.

I used Ovulation detector and I used from 2/2 -2/7.I always take test first thing in the morning.I detected LH surge on 2/7.

A blood test can be positive only 10 days after ovulation. Much quicker than a HPT

I used an early pregnancy test this time, and using it first thing in the morning got a bfp a week before my period was due.  Hormone levels do vary a bit and I think that if you have symptoms, it's worth testing.  I always find I need to change my diet before I'm late.  Usually about 5-7 days in before I know, I have a glass of wine and am violently ill.  Smart babies.  After that, I have always had +ve tests, and found that I have mild morning sickness that I can avoid with diet alone (for a time)

I am new here but everyone seems so friendly and helpful that i had to comment.  So here goes!!  I am 24 years old and i have a 5 year old daughter my fiancee and I have been trying for eight months to have a child and i just cant seem to get preg.  But recently i had my period and it was only 2 days and light with very little cramping (opposed to the normal 5 days and killer cramps). I have been tired experiencing nausea and my face is so discolored that it is ridiculous.  I am getting excited and i wanna know if i am preg but i dont want to be dissappointed again so i am trying to decide on whether to get a hpt or just wait to find out if i have a period next month.  What do you think i should do.. All feedback will be greatly appreciated

Hi there!  I am so happy to have found this site!  My husband and I were ttc this month and I am seeing some symptoms, but I really don't know.  Last period was 1/22/06.  Normally a 32 day cycle.  We definetly attempted on all of my fertile days.  A few days after I began to have sore breasts but now I am experiencing full blown nausea, headaches & heartburn.  I had some very light brown spotting 2/18-today.  It's not enough to see on a panty liner, but it is there when I wipe.  I am having mild period like cramps.  Took a hpt today and it was negative.  This is my first time around, so I really don't know what to think.

I am wondering if I might be pregnant, my last period was 01-18-06 and i am usually on a 30-32 day cycle.  It is now day 34 and no period, but i took a hpt yesterday and it was negative.  I have had cramping like I am getting my period since Monday, but have not gotten my period.  Any thoughts?

Sounds like you could be pregnant. Have you considered a HPT? The best time to take it is after your missed period and using first urine of the day. You may have been having implantation bleeding. Keep us posted.

For all of those hoping to become pregnant this month, good luck. My test on Sunday was negative, maybe too early. I am waiting to see if AF shows up before I retest. No signs of it yet, and it was due yesterday. We will see. I hate the waiting game.

With my youngest son I took and test at like 8 dpo. It said negative I threw it in the trash and just had to look 30 min later and I saw a verrrrrry faint line there. Anyway it was positive!! Now I've been through it with these pregnancy tests!!!! Especially clearblue. It could be positive but it could also be negative, I have received tons and tons of evap lines! I recomend the dollar general store tests, because they detect at 25MIU's and.... I have never seen and evap line as mnay times as I have taken them! I hope it is a bfp, but in a couple of days it should be alot darker since your hcg doubles every 48 hours in early pregnancy, so I would just wait it out. Good luck to you and God Bless!

I've known them to work the best, and so has my friend who has 3 that's all she uses and never received an evap line!! Test in 2 more days I think theres hope!!! yay im so excited for you!!!!

Hi there.  Comes in cycles, seems like this board is having a big pregnancy boom.  I would want to know.  Make sure you get enough folate, know what to take for nausea if it's pregnancy and so on.  The down side is that you can't trust an early negative, and that 50% of conceptions fail, but most go unnoticed as a late/ early / heav y/ weird period.  If you test before you miss your period you risk finding out about a pregnancy you mighten't have known about.  I'd still rather know.  Good luck.

Peers..I would like to know if holding the First response preg test stick in the urine stream more than 5 secs.Do you think you get false result.Does that dilute the result??

I am preg-or-not back again..
I am due for my next preiods today and no sign yet.I took ealry prenancy test(first response) early morning and it showed very faint line.But they said it should appear within 3 minutes.I think I saw a line after 5-7 mns.It was clearly visible in result window.What do you think??

Well I think after the 3 mins the test is considered invalid. If you did see a faint line after 5-7 mins it may or may not be a positive. Try to retest again in a couple of days then if it is a bfp you will see it in the time frame advised. If you can't wait to retest go to your doctor and get a blood test done. Hope everything turns out the way you hope!

So day 35 and counting....I waited three days and i took another hpt and it came up with a faint negative line.  Am I just to anxious?

It took 5-7 min to see that faint line when I first took a pregnancy test. It was positive. Even a faint line = a positive result.

So it is day 36 and no period.  i woke up this morning very very nauseous, so I don't know, I think that i am going to wait until Sunday to retest.  Is that too soon?  My husband and I just started ttc, but we have waited until the time was right and now we want it so bad.  To all that are trying as well, good luck.

I think I am in the exact same boat as you are..Mine is 35th today and I am still waiting for AF.My hpt test was faint line.I dont have any other symptoms other than sore breats.I have decided to take test again on FRI.Just getting restless :)..Good luck to you..

I am glad that i found this site and i now know that i am not the only one that has questions about this.  I talk to my husband, and he is very supportive, but i need imput from others who are going through the same thing.  I am extra nervous and excited because there was some question as to whether i could get pregnant or not.  When i was 19 i had an ovarian cyst that was the size of a basketball and then two little ones that were on the other ovary that had to be removed.  Oh the drama.  I just can't wait to have a baby.

I have always said.. A line is a Line is a Line.. No matter how light it is.. A hpt measures if you have  HCG in your blood.. when there is HCG in your blood you get a +  If there is only a little hcg in your blood you will get a faint + .  SO Preg-or-not.. i would say you are definately pregnant... :-)  I will congratulate you now :-)

Hi ladies, I got my AF on Jan. 31st I had sex with my husband on Feb, 12,13 and 15th. I took a pregnancy test yesterday and it came back negative, according to my ovulation chart we were RIGHT ON TIME!!!  Could I have tested too soon? I know EPT says they can detect as soon as 4 days before you next AF, for me I am due to come on On Feb. 28th, but I took a urine test at a clinic is there test better than an EPT? HELPPPPPPPPP

so day 37, and I am having cramps like I will get my period, but so far nothing.  I guess I don't understand if I am having all of these signs that I am pregnant, why did the test come back negative.  I guess that i just don't understand.

Go to an OB/GYN although they probably wont schedule you until you are 8 weeks along according to LMP.  When i was pg (miscarried 1/5) I found out at 5 weeks.  I had to wait until i was 8 weeks 5 days for my first prenatal appt.. TALK ABOUT ANXIETY!!! i was so excited.. those 3.5 weeks went by sooooo slooow.  the first appt they will do an internal, blood pressure, urine, etc.  They will also go over your complete medical history and go over paperwork.  At my first prenatal they even asked me about breastfeeding and circumcision if i had a boy.  Mine then sent me for blood work and an ultra sound which i did at 10 weeks 2 days.  Then you get to your 12 week check where they search for baby's heartbeat with a doppler.. That is how my practice works..yours may be different.  I had my u/s done at a maternal fetal medicine place and blood done at labcorp.  Every office is different.. they may be able to do all those tests right in your office..
