Prenatal Vitamins

Prenatal Vitamins

Good Afternoon or Morning/Depending on where you are!

I have a question. I've just come from my latest Doctors appointment and on the next visit I'm probably going to be starting Clomid. I've had a blood work etc and numberous other test done. Anyway now we're starting the whole preconception phase of ttc and I was told to 1. of course loose some wieght, 2. Excersise and lastly to take a Prenatal Vitamine. Now I'm aware of how to do the 1st two options does anyone have any suggestions about the Vitamins? Which are better or does it even matter which one you take? Any help is good help. Thanks! Oh yeah anyone here on clomid. How does that whole process work? I'm a little unclear on that.

The prenatal vitamins I take are called Duet DHA.  They have a prenatal vitamin and a fish oil supplement.  Before that I took Prenatal S.  Did your doctor prescribe a vitamin for you?  They are also available over the counter.

I got sick from the ones the doctor prescribed me in my past pregnancies so I went out and bought my own this time around and they are great and don't make me sick. I get them from GNC. I don't know if you have one near you, but I swear by them!

i am on the duet dha too. the omega 3 oil in it is to aid in development of the brain. they are also high in vitamin B6. that really helps to reduce the nausea.  they also contain 1 mg of folic acid which helps to prevent neural tube defects.

i like them alot. and this is my fourth one. i started on tandem ob, then i took one source, then primacare and now the duet dha

Thanks Ladies,

My Doctor suggested something with folate, Calcium and Iron. So I'll check out all of the suggestions. Thank you all so much this helps alot. I will keep you all posted on the progress. Thanks Again. One more questions to all of you that did take clomid, what test did you have done before you were actually prescribed something. I was given a test, to see if I was producing hormones or something to that extent and I was, does anyone know if that is a good sign. My doctors says she thinks my chances of getting pg are very good...but of course we would have to wait and see. My DH will be having himself checked if the Clomid is unsuccessful the 3rd time around. Hopefully it will be. Well good luck to all in my position and to all that have already succeeded Congratulations.

Thanks Again

Yes I am on clomid, actually on my 5th round this month!! Still no luck yet, but I have heard alot of success stories. I take 50mg on days 5-9, and to my knowledge it is to make you ovulate, I was not ovulating at all and started clomid the first round I still did'nt ovulate. That is when my ob uped me to 50mg instead of 25mg. I have blood work done every month on day 21 (counting the day I start my period as day 1) to check my progesterone to make sure I ovulated, and I have every month. The first time it was like 21.9 then 17.1 and last month it was 24. My husband has had his sperm checked and he is normal and I have had ultra sounds done and I seem to be ok so I guess it is just not our time yet. Oh yea, another thing with clomid is it makes you at a higher risk for having multiples!!!!! Well good luck to you and keep me posted on how the clomid works out for you.

I just got whatever brand I could find at the store...I think they are from Spring valley?? They are comparable to Stuarts prenatal vitamin. My last pregnacy, I took the ones my then doctor prescribed, They look like the ones I am pretty much taking now, but a few bucks cheaper..See what your doc. suggests.

I found an awesome one that I love. Its called Super Nutrition pre natal and post natal, it has all sorts of extra stuff in it (spirulina, fiber, green food base minerals, and lots of b complex so you dont have to take an extra b vitiman (which was reccomended by my OB) You can get these at a co op or health food store. The only downside to them is you have to take 6 total a day. Ive talked to a lot of moms here and they all had great experiences with them, and so far I have too!

My doctor offered to prescribe them, but said any over the counter ones will work fine.  They all have to have everything they are suppose to by FDA regulations.  Some may have extra, but he said is his experience any over the counter is fine.
