Prescription Pain Meds and Pregnancy

I am 32 weeks pregnant and have had to be on prescription pain meds pretty much my entire pregnancy due to migraines and a back injury.  I would love to hear from mothers that have had to take meds and everything is or did turn out ok.  My doctor assures me but you can not help but worry.  There is always that chance, Im sure.  TEh medication I take is hydrocodone

I took that, and so many other pain medications during this pregnancy it isn't funny.  So far the baby is healthy and hopefully I will get to hold her very soon.  You can't help but worry and as long as your little one is growing well, not too far behind, trust in your doctor.

Hi
I took meds throughout entire pregnancy for various reasons. Codeine and Percocet (same as hydrocodone). Some days I took 6 pills, others just one. I tapered off near the end but had a broken tailbone that got worse thrid trimester. My son was born two weeks ago at 39 weeks (a bit early but not related to pain meds), I had taken a few tylenol 2's that day before I knew I was in labour.
My son was born within 6 hours and was in perfect shape! He scored 9 on his agpars and was incredibly healthy and active from the moment he popped out. He breastfed well from about 5 minutes after birth and I've had no problems with him at all. He is a lovely boy who is very easy going.
He showed no signs at all of withdrawal symptoms at birth (the only real concern with narcotic pain meds from what I understand), and two weeks on, he's perfectly fine. He's had three check ups and he's just perfect for his age.
From my experience, don't worry. I wish I had spent less time worrying during my pregnancy and more time enjoying it and relaxing. The stress of being in pain and feeling bad about taking meds is much worse for the baby than taking the medication you need.
Good luck!
