Primrose Oil to start labor

Primrose Oil to start labor

ok, well I'm 40 weeks pregnant and FED UP! I started taking primrose oil tonight, 1 capsule orally and will insert one more capsule vaginally at betime...

can you tell that I AM DONE? Seriously, I just want this over already!

Anyone ever take primrose oil to help start labor? Any advise? Anything I should be concerned with?

Here is a good article about it.  Note that it takes a couple of weeks to work.  You will be going in to labor any day now, anyway, with out without it.

The concern is about contaminants in the medication...these herbal remedies are often assumed to be completely safe, when this is not always the case.  They can contain impurities, and our bodies may not react well to those.

Even if you have a known, pure substance, every now and then there is a woman whose body reacts strongly and unexpectedly  to the prostaglandin effects.  You always assume some risk by interfering with mother nature.

Expect to go into labor any time now, but it likely won't be from the EPO.

Well I have heard of that numerous of times but I don't know if it actually works.  I was too scared to do it I thought that it would harm my child somehow.  Sex doesn't always work trust me.  I was 41wks when I had to get induced.  My obgyn stripped my membrains twice and I would be cleaning all day when I got the chance.  I even ran up and down the hallways  with my 2yr dd  when I could.  Which she had a blast but I got restless lol.  And still nothing.  I finally told dh come on hun we're going to do it everyday till this kid comes lol.  Still nothing.  Even when I had went to get induced they had to sucktion her a couple times and cut me!  She didn't want to come out at all lol. Trust me I know how you feel and just hang in there your little one will come soon.  Hopefully she/he doesn't put you through what my little Nevaeh put me through.  lol keep us posted

Unfortunately, with my first pregnancy nothing worked.  She was 10 days overdue.  Sex (doesn't always work), raspberry leaf tea, pineapple, long walks.....nothing worked.  I had my membranes scraped twice.  I was to be induced at 4pm but went into labour on my own at 8am.   I didn't try Primrose or Caster oil and don't think I ever would.  I am hoping this baby comes on time and with less headache than my first.  Good luck!!  It'll be over soon.

I used EPO the week before I gave birth.  I just squeezed 1 capsule in at night.  The day I went into labor, I walked forever then had a pressure point massage on my feet, heels, and calves.  Worked almost instantly.  I gave birth right on his due date.

My doc recommends EPO to ripen the cervix - but he suggests starting weeks before you are ready
Insert the capsule but poke a pin hole - so the oil gets out

Good luck
