Progesterone @ 8wks???

by FIREMANSWIFE, Aug 03, 2004 12:00AM
I am just a few days over 8 weeks and I have had low Progesterone levels. Since my levels were low, my Dr put me on Prometrium which my latest blood draw showed helped increase my levels.
Here's my question...I was at 17, then 16.1 and last thursday, after a full week of taking Prometrium, my levels are @ 40.3! I called the Dr. office to get the results and the girl said everything looks great and to keep doing what I am doing. My husband noticed the level chart on one of my labs and it has 40 listed as a level in the seconf trimester. Should I be worrying?
I have said it before in this forum and I will say it again ...I think I am over reacting a bit and just a big worry wart, but it is my first pregnancy and I just want things to go well. Any help out there.
To all the preggers out there hope you have a day full of energy and NO sickness!

this is strickly my opinion.........if a nurse tells you everything looks great go with it and relax.  doctors may have the higher degree and make way more money...but nurses are required by law (at least in my state) to know how the drugs work how to use them properly and what all the effects, good and bad, and how to take you off of them. they are to know all the ins and outs of all these drugs.....so if the nurse said it looks great then relax.
good luck and glad to see everything is going great.

I think the progesterone range is very large so I think 40 is good, just my opinion and I'm not a dr. but if your dr's office says it's good then I really wouldn't worry....

The others are right, relax a bit.

Your level WILL be high...you ARE one progesterone supplementation, after all!

Good luck with everything!

Hi, I would not worry about the high progesterone level. I would be thankful. Your placenta will produce in upwards of 400mg. around 12 weeks. I had to take progesterone with my 4th pregnancy and it was successful and I have a baby girl. Please rest assured that that level of progesterone will be fine. I wish you the best with your pregnancy. Most of all try to relax and have faith! I know it is hard but worth it. Helen

I take progesterone suppositories and my level was 45 at 16dpo!  I was barely 4 weeks pregnant.  Don't worry the higher the better good for you!
