I went today to the doctor to confirm thru blood test that I was pregnant, which I am. She also wanted me to do a progesterone test. The only thing is that the results take a week or more to come back and she wants me to do a progesterone injection just in case my levels are low. I've been searching online to see if this would cause any harm or damage if my levels are already normalNormal saline flush but I am not having much luck. Can anyone direct me to a web site or tell me about their experiences with progesterone injections. I am nervous to take the injection and it make me lose a normalNormal saline flush fetus. Esp since I already lost one earlier this year. I dont want to take any chances. I would appreciate anything anyone has to say!
Progesterone will not harm your fetus and it will not harm you. It is often given as a matter of course in Europe. It will help if your levels are low, and will not do much of anything if your levels are normalNormal saline flush. Until you get your results, I would do exactly as the doctor says, it sounds like she is a good, careful doctor.
I would listen to my doctor. Are you from Europe? Because here in US, they hardly ever give any medication or any injections unless you already had a m/c. The progesterone will not harm your baby, it'll most likely help. Low progesterone levels could cause a m/c, so I wouldn't take the risk.
I had progesterone injections up until the 5th month of pregnancy. My levels were normalNormal saline flush before pregnancy but to be on the safe side (due to previous MC) she wanted me to have 1 injection a week. Which I continued until the 19th week.
A friend of mine who is with another doctor, who also had a MC earlier this year had also been given the injections until the 12th or 14th week and so far so good with her too.
I am currently at about 25 weeks.
I just want to have a healthly pregnancy so anything the doctor tells me I do ( I tend to check it out with the ladies on this forum first though).
Good luck (also the injections can be quite painful at times, but its worth it).
I live in the Caribbean in a British Dependent Territory. I had a miscarriage earlier this year and had to do a d&c in early July. I am so excited to be able to get pregnant again becuz I have PCOS. I am hoping that this time I will have good luck and that God will bless me. Thanks for your comments!
Hi, I was just wondering if you decided to do the injections because I do mine on Fridays and will soon do my forth week of them. I also do the supp. 200mg twice a day How many weeks are you. I will be 7w tomorrow. Good luck to you.
To: someone who had experience with early labor and a pregnancy after that
My doctor says that I need to have like 20 shots of progesteron because on my previous pregnancy I sarted labor at 32 weeks, so to avoid another early labor I need it.
I am afraid... is that really necesary?
thanks
My husband live in abroad and he come to me for 1and half month yearly. We think we are fertile, my mens is happening 30-40days, every time is not same day, but we think, for short period of my husband I failed to conceive. For conceive early we went to a GYN specialist, she suggest me to take injection for one time on 1 or 2 days of starting my mens and suggest us to intercourse everyday from 1day of my mens. I would like to know what kind of injection it is. because I am reading here that everyday should have to take injection FSH/LH. Now I am confuse, If anyone know about it Kindly explain me and suggest me what we can do to conceive early.
I'm new here but wanted to comment on the progesterone subject. I am taking daily prog. injections. I was told that it prevents the body from releasing more eggs, kind of a natural birth control during pregnancy. Your body normally produces it during pregnacy. I'm taking the injections because I had IVF done. 5 fertilized eggs were transferred. I'm kinda curious how many I have also. My HCG levels were 140.5 @ day 11 and 316 @ day 13 after transfer. I have also been very tired lately. Was not this tired with my other two. So I think it's possible that I may be carrying more than one this time.
