I would like to know how the whole levels work; if they are high then you could be pregnant but if they are low you aren't? My doctor has not explained this. I am currently on Clomid to get pregnant and would like to know what the levels mean. Thank you.
I am not an expert by any means but I am going through a situation regarding my progesterone levels and have done some research. Your body produces progesterone naturally and when you become pregnant the number increases as your pregnancy progresses. When your on any sort of birth controlControl Control rx, it too contains levels of progesterone. In my case I have a low progesterone level, but I am 6 1/2 wks! I have been put on progesterone the help maintain the pregnancy. So it basically fluffs up your uterus to be able to go through the stages of pregnancy. good luck and hope I helped.
greater than level 10 means you ovulated (if you aren't on fertility rx)
greater than level 15 means you ovulated if you are on a fertility rx although they really would like to see 25 or greater with Clomid
really high levels can mean pregnancy- but don't necessarily- especially with Clomid. I've heard of womenWomen's way on here have had levels as high as 45 on day 21 of there cycle and not been pregnant.
Progesterone is needed to sustain a pregnancy as it helps keep the uterine lining thick. If you have low progesterone with a pregnancy, doctors usually put you on Prometrium- either injection or vaginal suppository until your 2nd trimester because at that point the placenta takes over.
Hope this helps. Scary to know all this huh? Guess I've been TTC way too long!!

I had a .7 and was pregnant and took clomid...levels do not mean a whole lot at all.
I too am on clomid. Day 21 of my first cycle of clomid my progesterone level was 49.9 and I was not pregnant. My Re said that maybe I had more than one egg drop that month. So having a high progesterone level does not mean a bfp... sorry. But if it is high and you are pregnant that is a very good sign! On my second cycle my progesterone was 21, he said that anything over 15 is good.
I meant to say levels mean nothing when it comes to saying if you are pregnant or not...but they should not be low in pregnancy.
anyways...
I am doing alright...No AF yet and my d&c was on June 17...I can't remember how long it took me last d&c to get AF. I hope soon, because I am moody as heck!!
Not sure if I want to try again at this point..could not handle another disappointment. But I am talking about it.
Thanks for asking! How are you?
Wannabe- I am listing below what my RE has suggested as good levels to conceive. They all tend to vary a little in their opinions and of course there is always someone who was the "exception to the rule".
Progesterone- Should be above a 5 if you ovulated.
Uterine lining- Should measure over an 8 for implantation
Follicles- Should measure over 20 for best chance of releasing a mature egg
HCG- They begin to double the first week of pregnancy. I do not know the exact number they should be at.Sorry! :)
Hello Ladies...I need help. The fertility clinic I went to did not earn my trust nor answer the questions I had. They just wanted to do all the tests my insurance would pay for. Are all the clinics like that?
What natural or chemical things have you heard of that increase fertility without a prescription?
I had twins 17 tears ago, then Norplant (birth control) for all that time. I recently married, husband has no children. Have not concieved in 17months of trying without birth control. Went to docs, everything normal, progesterone level low at 6.
I had ovidrel shot on Mon. and Tue. and IUI's both days. I had prog. level checked on Fri. morning. Very early like 5am. That would be 3 DPO. It was very low.3.2. They put me on prometrium suppositories. I have always been low levels. I was wondering if it is possible that I did ovulate and might have conceived even if my prog.levels were low? They saw a mature follicle on Mon. ultra sound. Why would dx give me suppos. if I was so low, maybe he thinks there is a chance. What do you think? Alli
last month i had a mature follicle on day 19th of my cycle and my doc gave me an injection...but on day 21 progesterone test my levels came very low and i did not ovulated.....is that possible to happen?
