Progesterone

I am 6w 1d and my Dr prescribed me Progesterone suppositories bcause I have had 2 m/c's recently. Can any of you that have taken this, tell me what the positive and the negative effects of this is?Does it stop spotting?Please give me your opinions about it.Thanks!

I took progesterone (in a pill form) for week 5 through 13.  My fertility doc prescribed it because I had been spotting, even though my progesterone level and hgc level were both fine.  I did stop spotting aroung week 8 and have had none since then.  I have been off the progesterone pills for 5 days now and everything seems to be fine.  When I finally saw an OB/GYN and got all my tests done I was told I have bacterial vaginosis (pretty common, not an STD.  Kind of like a yeast infection in your cervix) and he suspects that may have been the root of my spotting early on.  I took some antibiotics for that.  Hope that helped a little.  Good luck!

I am on prog suppositories now. Have been since thursday. Was spotting only when I wiped. None on panties.The spotting stopped within hours of inserting the cream.Have had only a little color to the cream as it has exited. What about you? Has it stopped yours? I'm curious too.

i took progesterone suppositories and the bleeding stopped.  unfortunately the pregnancy ended in MC but that was not due to the progesterone.  now im on progesterone (prochieve) right after 0.  i have had no side effects.

I used progesteron (Oral-Capsul form) from weeks 5-13 with both of my pregnancies due to my progesterone count being low. I experienced some dizziness using it, but then started to take it right before bed so that I would fall asleep and wouldnt have to deal with the dizziness. Other than that, taking it had no side effects for me. Best of luck.

I too experienced dizziness with the oral progesterone.  From what I understand though, the side effects are not the same with the suppositories.  Other than being dizzy and sleepy, I dont think they caused my any problems.

I use vaginal progesterone suppositories following each IUI, I always have spotting the second day I use it and everyday therafter until I have a negative HCG. Hopefully, I will have a positive this cycle . But it does cause spotting, only visible in the Crinone and not even on the pantyliner.

The same thing is going on with me. It's a black brown color on the cream as it comes out. Is this what you have experienced? I have wondered if I were still spotting or is the inserting the cream causing sign of old blood. Do you usually go ahead and af while using cream or does af come after you stop it?

Well,i went to pick up my prescription of the Progesterone and when I read the pamphlet it said that it has been known to cause birth defects in the fetus's abdominal wall and cleft pallet in early pregnancy.So I am not even going to take the chance.My progesterone levels were ok so I am just gonna leave it in God's hands.

Hello, my name is ashley and i am 5 weeks 5 days pregnant,  over the past 6 months i have had 2 misscariages so my doc has run a ton of tests on me to find out why this keeps happening to me so far they cant find anything wrong with me or my husband..anyway since i am pregnant again they have been watching me very closely,  my blood work was doubleing very good and this past fri. they decided to check my progesterone levels they said they like it to be at least 25 or above and mine is at 14.7 and now i am on progesterone supp. 100 mg twice daily...should i be concerned that im gonna have another misscariage or is this medicine im on gonna prevent that also that blood work was done on fri. and today is mon. is it a big deal that it has been 3 days not being on this medicine? any comments would be great...thank you very much...ashley
