Progestrone Levels and Clomid

by Princess Wanted, Aug 17, 2006 12:00AM
Does anyone know what your progestrone levels need to be to indicate a successful O (on clomid)?

My doctor said 10 or more indicates ovulation. With my last cycle, my progesterone was 21.5, and I was not pg, either. But the high progesterone is a good sign.

I started my third cycle yesterday.  I'm on days 5-9 (50mg).  The doctor said the levels were perfect and he did not need to increase my levels. I had no physical signs (mucus) that I Oed.  So I was shocked when they said my levels said I did!

Now what do thing?

Congratulations to you!  Have you already had your baby or when are you due?

Thank you all very much for your responses.  I always feel very incouraged after reading your e-mails!

Clomid will dry up your CM, so it's not surprising that you didn't notice any. Preseed is a great lubricant to use to make up for the lack of CM. Some women also report that taking Robitussin or Mucinex helps. My dr prescribed clomid for CD 5-9, but I chose to start taking it earlier in my cycle, because ovualtion was occurring late in my cycle.

I believe anything over 2 means that you have O'd.

I was also told that anything over a 10 means that you have ovulated.  Each time I have had mine checked with being on clomid, it has been in the 20s.

Have you use any of the products you recommended?  Why are they needed?  Is this factor going to effect my chances of ttc?

How exciting for you!  You give me hope :)

My first cycle of clomid made my AF cycle 30 days.  This past month (2nd cycle of clomid) was only 28 days.

Before I went on Clomid my cycles were regular, every 26-28 days.  I know that clomid can lenthen your cycles, but this past month my period was normal.

Did you need to try any lubricants?

by mslkpage, Aug 17, 2006 12:00AM
Well, CM increases at ovulation time to help the sperm travel to the egg. It also protects sperm from the natural acidity inside the vagina. Clomid has a drying effect on CM, so preseed is a great alternative. I do use preseed, but am not pg yet. But there have been many women on here who have used it alone or with clomid that have been successful at getting pg.

No i didnt need to use any lubricants.  I was kind of suprised actually because I never really had much CM since DS was born.  But the Clomid seemed to realy help me out there too!!  I would start BD about CD11 and go every other day until you get AF or around CD25.  My dr. told me to start on CD11 (I had 31 day cycles - the clomid really helped regulate me).  So we did this and then didnt BD after CD15 (I think I Oed on CD18), so those little guys can live for a while.  I wish you the best of luck.  there has been many of us on here that have gotten pregnant with Clomid (lots on the 3rd cycle).  So keep your head up, it will happen!!  GOOD LUCK!!  Keep me posted!!
