Prometrium

Prometrium

Hi Ladies! My hubby and I have been TTC since June and since then I have only had ONE period which was September 9th! We BD'ed around the time I thought I was ovulating (if I ovulated) and I went to an RE October 5th who put me on Prometrium to start my period and prescribed Clomid 50mg to start after my period came. My question is this: I've been taking the Prometrium for 5 days now and no sign of my period.. How long does it usually take?? Also, I've taken an HPT that was negative but if for some reason I were to be pregnant it doesn't hurt the baby right? I believe I've read posts where pregnant women were actually taking it during their pregnancy. Thanks girls! Hope everyone has a great week!!

I'd say you need to call your doctor--the one that gave you the prometrium... didn't they tell you how long it should take? and if it could be dangerous?

My Dr. had me taking prometrium after I was pg to help it to stick.  It's a quite common prescription when your progesterone is low.  Many women on this site have used progesterone orally, as a suppository, or as injections to enable a successful pg after having m/c.  If you still have concerns, I would talk to the dr.

Your period is supposed to start a day or two after you stop the prometrium. The clomid may work without a period, but your uterine lining may not be optimum for a pregnancy if you do not have a period first. This could cause a m/c if you do get pg. You really need to get af first. If the prometrium doesn't work, then you need to call your Dr. to try something else. Good luck.

It is safe to take prometrium while pregnant, I wouldnt necessarily suggest taking clomid until your period comes, but that is easier said than done if your desperately trying to conceive.
The clomid could possibly kick start the ovulation, but I would ask my doctor about it first.
Good luck and baby dust to you

I have taken prometrium twice to start my af.  I took 1 pill a day for 7 days and then it took about 4 days for af to start.  My dr told me that it would take 3 to 5 days for af to start after i finished the meds.  She also told me that if no af 7 days after i finished the meds to contact her.  How are you taking it?

I wouldn't suggest you should start clomid without a period. How will you know what your days are and when you could be ovulating? With clomid you don't always ovulate on day 14 . Sometime you can ovulate very early & other times not ovulate at all. I know because this has happened to me. My doctor told me clomid is not something you can take and ovulate automatically. You have to find the dosage that works for your body. I tried 50 mgs for 2 months and didn't o . Then I went to 100 mg  and got pregnant that month. I miscarried . And now i'm trying again. I'm in that long 2ww time frame right now. Ugh it drives me crazy. Good luck & baby dust to all us ttc.

I'm taking 100mg a day for 12 days ...  she told me I could stop taking them once I start though, but at this rate it may take all 12 and then some! :o)

Thanks for the input!
