Protein in urine/PLEASE HELP!

Does anyone know anything about protein in your urine when you are preggers?  Like what it means?  Is it bad?  Can someone please help?!?!

Protien in your urine is one of the early signs for preeclampsia. Check the blood pressure, this will be another sign. Any swelling?

The reason I ask is because my cousin went in the hospital yesterday with lots of protein in her urine.  Well they said they would give her 48 hours to get it out of her system and if it doesnt then they would take the baby C-section.  Anyway she is 29 weeks now and they just called and said they are taking the baby.  I just didnt know if the protein had something to do with it.  I was just wondering.

yes her blood pressure was high....and last time I saw her she looked puffy to me in the face.

Be confident, technology today is so advanced. I know you have read some of my post about my little one born at 23 weeks. Just think positively. Tell her to inquire about kangaroo care when the baby is able to be held. It is a form of holding the baby skin to skin, best for the baby. Better for bonding.

Yea thanks for your prayers.  When she was born, she was premature.  She was so small she could fit inside the palm of your hand.  Her mom was like 6 months when she had her.  So hopefully everything works out!!

also, I had a friend recently give birth at 27 weeks due to preeclmpsia =- high blood pressure. the baby came home around her due date and is fine.

Im guessing they are taking the baby emergency c b/c of the preeclampsia. The protien, swelling, and high bp point in that direction. Like many have said above, technology these days is amazing! My prayers are with her!

THANKS TO ALL!!  I havent ever experienced this myself so I wasnt sure what could be wrong.  I have heard all the signs for preeclampsya, and I thought that was what she had but I wasnt sure about the protien thing.

Tell your friend to drink lots of water, to make sure the protein is not due to dehydration.  Before I was pg, I always had a lot of protein in my urine because I didn't drink enough water.

Well she had a GIRL - Madison!  They took her straight to the NICU!  Hopefully everything is ok.

It can mean high blood pressure, but often in early pregnancy it could be related to either being dehydrated or not eating. I was spilling a ton of protein in my urine during my time in and out of the hospital with my oldest as I wasn't holding anything down, even water made me vomit instantly.

Hope everything turns out for the Best!!! I will pray for her and baby Madison. I want to name my baby girl that, it's such a beautiful name. I had protein in my urine and high blood pressure for 5 months of my pregnancy with my DS. It kept going up so they put me on bedrest my last 2 months. It was scary, you feel fine but the DR's are very worried about you. It's a serious conditon and can be life threating to the mom. That's why the took baby Madison out early! Take Care!!!
