Strangely, my nephew did not suffer dehydration and was not failing to thrive. He came out at over ten pounds and only went up from there! Also, pyloric stenosis is more prevalent in first born sons, but my nephew was the second son, and the third child.
How strange you asked this today-she and I were just talking about this yesterday as my infant son has been diagnosed with reflux and she wanted to make sure it wasn't something more.
My son was about 6 weeks when he had it.He was my second child. It was the worst nightmare I think I have ever lived through. He did not thrive and it got to the point where he couldnt take a dropper of fluid without throwing it up. My doctor also told me it was reflux. I knew it was not and at my own discretion took him to the hospital.I couldnt take it any longer emotionally.I couldnt sleep because I wanted to be there for him.A pyloric stenosis is a growth on the bottom of the stomach. Also acid reflux Ive found is not as violent throwing up.I would suggest if you even suspect your child might have it demand that ulrtasound some doctors just dont listen and let it go for to long.

Yes it showed right away.I was so relieved to know what it actually was finally.Today he is just fine and eats like a horse.I would just encourage to anyone if you suspect something is wrong dont settle when the doctors tell you nothings wrong or its in your head.I firmly believe my son would have died had I not stepped in and took him to the hospital anyway.
well my son had the ultrasound done and nothing was wrong with him thank god but i had to change his milk so now he is on similac lactose free and he is good now
