Question about Babies heartbeats..What is your experience?

So as I posted below, I heard my baby's heartbeat for the first time, this morning on the doppler machine. It was 160 beats a minute. When I heard my DD's heartbeat for the first time, also at 9 1/2 weeks, she had 170 bpm. I know that all babies heart's beat really fast that early on, and it is no real indicator. But after I told ppl that DD's heartbeat was 170, they said "I bet It's a girl"and it was...so would 160 be considered fast too, could it be another girl?? I was told that a faster heartbeat indicates a girl and a slower heartbeat a boy, which I know is probably just another old wive's tale..any truth to this?? My friend, who had a boy, said the first heartbeat she heard for him was like 130-140 bpm, if I remember correctly. What was the heart rate for your baby when you first heard it, and what are you having?? I'm just curious what your experience has been, Thanks! :)

I am 33 weeks pregnant with a boy and his heartbeat was 158 at my last appointment. It has been above 160 thoughout my whole pregnancy. My girlfriend is also pregnant with a boy and his heartbeat has been around 140 all along. I dont know if there are any facts that support this, but I think its all an old wives tale.

My baby's hb has consistently been 160 since the beginning. I am 27W5D now and she is a girl.  The old wive's tale was true for me.

My baby's hb was 168 the first time and thereafter has been between 155 and 170 (I'm 32w), and it's a boy!  Must be an old wives' tale, because the nurse who always listens to the hb says that most of her boys have higher hbs than girls.  The rate changes with activity level, too.

My babies h/b was slow at 6 weeks then went up to the 170s at 8 weeks till about 16 weeks or so.  they kept telling me its a girl.   I'm having a boy and its dropped to the 150s.

My son't heartbeat was faster than my daughter that I am still carrying.  His was always in the high 160s and hers is in the 150s everytime.

I am near 25 weeks and yesterday my baby boy was in the 130's but he has been in the 140's range usually. He was sleeping (: I don't remember the heartbeat's of my daughters though. I don't think they really mean anything, anyhow.

It was sort of a more 'fun' question, I wouldn't base the sex of my child, on what I heard today on the doppler machine.

Don't worry I played all of the guessing games, and took all the online quizes just for fun :) My baby's heartbeat was 160 and all the quizes online said it was a girl. BUT it's a boy :) Have fun!
