Question about laprascopy procedure...need help?

Hello Everybody,
Hope you are all having a good day. I have a question about my laprascopy procedure I am having done in 2 weeks. Ok I think I might be on my period when I am scheduled to have it done...I am so irregular right now I don't know. So my question is can I still ahev it done if I am on my period? I am having it done to get rid of my Endo and I am also having a partial hysterectomy done that way. he plans on taking out my uterus and one ovary in pieces through the holes he makes to treat the Endo. So anybody who might have any insight or advice would be great.

I don't see why they couldn't do it. I've had two, but I don't remember if I was on my period. Call the dr quick if you want.

I am so sorry I missed your prev. post and I am sorry fopr getting back to you so late but I just got back home. Her is my story, it started about 8 mos ago right after the birth of my last child who is almost 8 mos. old. I have extremely heavy periods with terrible clotting, painful intercourse, extreme backache and diarrhea, all symptoms of Endo. I also have extreme night sweats and hot flashes and slight fevers for no reason and once again diarrhea also symptoms of Adenomyosis. The birth control he put me on did not help with the symptoms so I had an MRI done to check for tumors on my uterus, which I obviously have- that is Adnomyosis, sorry about the spelling. I have 4 great kids but before i had my 4th I had 2 miscarriages one of which I had a D&C to clear out my uterus and from what I have read on the internat Adenomyosis can be caused by having kids and/or surgical procedures. I have no clue how I got it but I have it both. I hope I have helped you and please if you have any more questions please feel free to ask and if I don't get back with you tonight I most def. will tomm. Sorry if it took too long tp get back to you.

pmom! I've been looking for you! Did you say you have adenomyosis too? I posted awhile back but got no response, I am wondering about your experience with endo and adenomyosis. First let me say I don't know if it matters if you have your period. You'll have to ask doc. I had a laproscopy 20 yrs. ago at age 18 and was diagnosed with endo. Then was treated at 19yrs old with Synarel nasal spray( pseudo menopause)for 6 month, then BCP steady until age 28, then did Lupron for 6 month, then got pregoo and had two little beauties. Now I am having huge issues- pain, bleeding, anemia, and on 1/06 a m/c that I believe had something to do with this adenomyosis. Can you tell me your story? And I can tell you that I have heard women with endo say they feel like a different person after hysterectomy, they feel so good. I just am not ready for that as I would like one more little babe.

My sister is having her uterus out, and reconstructive surgery on 12/8, due to adenomyosis. She already had endometriosis, before she had kids, but had no trouble getting pregnant. She has 3 kids. With #2 the placenta grew into the uterine wall, and had to be dug out. That was very painful for her, and after that, her cervix started to fall. With baby #3, she was on bed rest for over 2 mos. because her uterus (not cervix) was having a hard time holding the baby. Since then, she's had nothing but pain and trouble. She recently had a laproscopy (#3 for her) to determine the problem. Her surgery wil have to be a 6" incision though because her uterus is so enlarged (like 12 weeks pg.), and upside down. She is hoping to keep her cervix, and ovaries. I hope your procedure goes ok. Are you feeling better about it? I didn't realize you were so young when you first posted about it. I hope you aren't too stressed, or sad about it now.

Thankyou Pmom for your help! I also have many of the symptoms you listed. If I was 100 % sure I didn't want 1 more child I would have the hysterectomy in a heart beat. And now that- my problems- mentioned it, a tummy tuck awhile they are at it! I do wonder though, if the adenomyosis causes a problems with implantation. I m/c at 11-12 weeks, the baby probably died at 8 according to lab tests, but the doc says it had nothing to do with the adenomyosis. I can't help but wonder if my c-secions (2) and weird endometrial lining(so thick with clots) had someting to do with the baby implanting incorrectly. I guess it does not matter now, but I just don't want it to happen again if I decide to ttc again. Now I'm scared! Thanks for all you help pmom and myproblem, if you please I would love updates on how you are doing!!!

Sounds like your sister is having a hard time....I hope it gets better for her. As for me I am still upset about it but I am trying to look on the positve side...being the fact that I will feel so much better. Life I am on my period right now and I am have been doing is laying around because I feel so bad. I am just upset at the fact that no matter what I can't have anymore kids and I am still so young but I do have 4 beautiful children so that is helping me also. Thank you for being so caring.

I am sorry that I scared you but at least if you think you could have the same problem then you should take it to the doctor, this is something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I am having more trouble today due to the fact that i amon my period and it is so painful right now. You know that it could be the reason you had a miscarriage but you will never know for sure. I am glad I was able to help and please keep me updated on your situation and please kno wthat I am praying for you.
