Question about missed period

I'm sure you guys hear this question a lot, but I gotta know what is going on!

Ok, my period is never late. It is always like clock work. As of this morning, I am 5 days late. Me and my hubby have been trying to get pregnant, so it is possible that I am. But I keep flunking the over the counter tests! Am I testing too soon? The box said day after missed period. I've heard that stress can keep your period away, but in the past (when I was way more stressed!) my period would just come earlier and last longer! Any advice? How many days did it take for some of you Moms to test positive on a home test? I'm going crazy here and I don't want to get my hopes up.

So far I haven't really had any pregnancy symptoms, I might be more tired than usually but that's it. Well, one other thing. I had this weird pulling sensation near my left ovary about a week or so ago. I don't know if that means anything or not, but I've never felt it before.

Any info you guys have would be greatly appreciated!!

You may have ovulated late, in this case your period would be late. You could still be pregnant though. Test again in another couple of days. Let us know how you get along.

Hey, I am also 5 days late and my period is always right on time. I tested after 3 days late and got a negative result. Disappointed but skeptical because i am having symptoms, but not as severe as my last pregnancy in May (ending in miscarriage in July). Maybe it's just my imagination because I want to be pregnant again so bad (30 is just around the corner). I made a doctor's appt for Thursday, but that's a long time away. How eerie... same sort of thing with me!

I had my last pd on Oct 15, making today day 39. (11 days LATE)No period yet, until a tiny bit of spotting this afternoon. I am also typically 28 days and NEVER spot. I took 3 tests (only the last with "morning pee") and all negative. I was feeling that sort of pulling/crampish feel on my left side too.

We aren't trying but when the thought of being pregnant crept in... I began to get excited. So, I don't know if I'm late because of the excitement and stress of it all (or if I'm imagining the semi-sickness I'm feeling either!) Isn't it a roller-coaster? It's good to know that others out there have gone through the same sort of thing.

well my story sounds VERY similar to yours... my husn=band and I have trying to get pregnant... i was 3 days late on my period (which is unusual) so i took a home pregnancy test... the test was positive even though the line was very light... i went to the doctors office yesterday for my first check up and the said my test was negative... i was sooo upset.. they did tell me to come back in two weeks to test again if I hadent got my period by then. im confused now.. am i pregnant or not?
Did you ever find out if you were pregnant or not?

Wow... that's interesting that it came up postitve at home but then negative at the drs. Definitely go in again.

(are you sure it wasn't an expired test?- I had one w/ an exp date of almost a yr ago and it looked almost like a positive. I know, I should've just thrown it out!)

Anyhow, I went in today to get a blood test. I am almost sure it's not going to be positive. I've been spotting and there are some clumps- very abnormal for me. So, I'm thinking that possibly I WAS pregnant and I miscarried. I'm not feeling the way I was (light-headed, low apetite, etc) anymore... just cramps.

We'll see what the test shows. I'm mostly curious to see what the hcg levels are at and that may give me an idea of what the heck has been happening to my body! Yikes- sometimes it's no fun. (By the way-- how long do you all usually have to wait until the results are in??)

The girl in the office told me today that my blood test looked positive but that the dr. had to look at it... who are the girls that work in the dr office? They just called me back and said it was negative! How much more of a roller-coasater could this be?

The hcg level was at 2. Does that mean that I was pregnant? I'm pretty sure I had/am having a miscarriage. Anyone have any insight??? My dr is NO help.

I have been experiencing a missed period. I am 8 days late and I have tooking 3 home pregnancy test and all 3 said negative. I have been feeling a little bit of cramps like I am on my period but not bleeding and have a little bit of breast tenderness. I have never been late on my period except when I was pregnant with my 2 children. That was the only time I had missed my period. With them 2 I always had a positive result but right now I am not sure and frustrates me cus I don't know. Can any one be able to help me on this situation?

Unfortunately... I think it's just a waiting game until you can get a blood test. But you probably can get a good sense since you've been pregnant before. Best wishes through all this! I know how you feel.

HI--I just saw your comment and it made me feel so much better because I am in your EXACT same situation.  I am never late and my hubby and I have been trying for about 2 months.  I got my period last month at normal time and I am now 6 days late but my "at home" pregnancy tests are showing negative.  I feel like I have pregnancy symptoms--(like tender breasts and nausea) but I don't know. I am scared and its was nice to read your comment and understand you completly.  I am going to get blood work done tomorrow.  Keeping my fingers crossed and the baby dust flying :) !  Could there be any other reason why my period could be late?  It can't be due to stress because I am calm about the situation and I have never been late.  Any comments will greatly be appreciated!

Wow!  It's good to know that I am not the only one going through the same thing.  I myself am 2 weeks late.  My husband and I have been trying to have a baby.  I've taken 3 pregnancy tests and they have all came back negative.  I am so confused.  I'm going to be making an appointment soon to see what is going on.  Thanks!

Hey everyone, I came off the pill about 3 months ago. Last month my period was a couple days late....but I'm 10 days late as of this month. I've been feeling like I'm getting my period for about 2 and a half weeks (lower back pain etc.) I have a slight bit of discharge and have been getting up at night to pee (unusual). However, I got a negative on the pregnanvy test yesterday......could I stop wondering....or should I go back?!!!

I am 21 years old and I have been timming my ovulation and trying to get pregnant for 2 months now. My period was due on the 12th. I had a little spotting on the 13th but it only lasted about an hour. I took a test on the 10th the 12th and the 15th but all came back negative. Im new to the city and dont have insurance for antoher month so I cant go for a blood test yet. I have been on prenatal vitamins for 4 months now. I have been feeling sick to my stomic, had dizziness, and my breast are a little tender. I have to pee all the time and my vaginal tissue is a little bluish, which they say is a sign of pregnancy. Can anyone help with any information to help me find out for sure if Im pregnant or not. Or if you know of a really good brand of pregnancy test. I have taken Early Responce and Equate. The not knowing is killing me and I dont want to get my hopes up. Thank you for all of your help.

My last period was 18DEC03.  It's now the 23rd of January, and still no period.  I just to a test...negative!!!  I don't get it?  My husband and I are trying to get pregnant.  He just showed me a Swedish article he found on-line about 'sken-pregnancy', which translates to something like sympathy pregnancy.  Men sometimes get symptoms when their ladies are pregnant.  Women sometimes get this as well??  Has anyone heard of this before?  Also, you ladies who posted earlier, it's been a week.  What's the status?  Any positives?

I too am sailing in the same boat.  My period is 18 days overdue and still no sign of it happening.  My pregnancy tests are negative and I havent been feeling very pregnant.  My GP is not interested in even doing a blood test.  Cant really stand the suspense any longer...

My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for a few months and I have had a couple of normal cycles since going off the pill in Nov. I am now on day 53 with no period. I have taken three pregnancy tests and all negative. I have been nauseated for just a couple of days now and some breast tenderness, but its really tough to tell if a period is coming or maybe pregnancy? Of course, my family doctor has been away for the last couple weeks, so thats no help. I have just been wondering if I can just wait for my doc to get back from holidays or should I try some sort of clinic or something to get some answers? I really would like some answers because this is sooo unsettling. I kind of feel like, "Am I imaginging all this???" Anyone have some good advice? Has anyone in this boat gotten a positive sign yet?

I really hope somebody can help me. I'm 21 years old and am nearly 2 weeks late, i did take a test last week which came up negative, but there is still no sign. I am on the pill however, but i was all over the place the past month and missed a few pills. I'm really nervous, so im affraid its just nerves getting to me and the stress of my final few months of studying for my university degree. I've been really tired the past week also and sleeping constantly. I had menstural cramps, and breast tenderness but my period never arrived. I am going to do another test tomorrow, if im not pregnant, i dont know what else it could be. any ideas?

please help i am 17 and i dont no wat is going on in my body i am 4 weeks late on my period i have all the symptoms of being pregnant sore breast being sick always tierd, bt i am geing cramp everyday now jst like im a bot 2 get my periods. i dont no wat 2 do im only 17 i dont want 2 go 2 the doctors and ask 4 a test at my age. so please help has any1 had these symptons and been pregnant please could u let me no i am desprete.  thanks

Don't be scared about going to the doctors.  They are there to help not judge, but if in doubt go and buy a home test from the supermarket because no-one will look twice.  I am 7 weeks since my last period but still no sign and still showing negative pregnancy test.  I have the tiredness, the tender breasts,nausea every now and then, but apart fomr that I'm fine.  My husband and I have been trying for a while, and I was as regular as clockwork before.  I've just had a blood test and am waiting for the results.  We're in the middle of a house build, so whether the stress of that has stopped my periods, or maybe I'm not producing enough HCG to show up on a urine test.  Fingers crossed at the moment, but I don't want to get my hopes up just in case my blood test comes back negative.
