Hey Ladies!
Hows everyone?? Its not so great here today.. Well Ashton has been diagnosed with Thrush Mouth on monday.. So his doctor prescribed him NystatinNystatin Nystatin topical Nystatin vaginal Nystatin-triamcinolone Nystatin-triamcinolone topical Oral every 6 hours.. Well I noticed that day after giving it to him he started sounding wheezy and horseHorse chestnut in the throatCancer - throat or larynx Throat swab culture.. well i thought ok maybe its just a side affect.. well it seemed like everytime i gave it to him he got worse.. well his last dose was yesterday afternoon at 3pm.. i havent given it to him since and he seems to be better.. Not cranky much.. sounds a lil better.. I called the ped. office this morning and they said they didnt think it was the meds but maybe he picked up a cold.. I also told them that i did switch his formula to Enfamil Lipil with Iron and they didnt seem to think that caused it either.. He was using Similac AdvanceAdvance care plus Advance relief with Iron but since they never have it at walmart or any store at that around here in the powder cans, i just switched it..I guess because of the recalls or something.. Have no clue! They asked if his noseNose fracture was running and I said no.. No feverAllergic rhinitis Coccidioidomycosis Febrile seizures Fever Fever blister Fever blisters and canker sores Herpes labialis (oral herpes simplex) Histoplasmosis Malaria Rheumatic fever Scarlet fever nothing.. So what could have caused this?? All i know is that this **** didnt start until after i gave him that medicine.. and he seems to be better and getting better now that ive stopped him on it.. What should I do?? He goes for his Appt tommorow for his shots.. **we didnt make it on the right time last week** So they reschuled it till tommorow.. Should i just keep him off the med till then?? The lady didnt say whether to stop it or anything.. His thrush seems to be gone now from what i seen in his mouth.. HELP!
Although I'm no expert, I would wait until you go to your child health appointment tommorow. At least that way you can be reassured by someone knowledgeable. Take care
If he became wheezy everytime you gave him the meds it almost sounds like a reaction is this one of the side effects? Yes go to your doctor and make sure you tell him this sometimes you have to out weigh the good with the bad
with my son his pediatrician swore that the medicince they give for thrush can't cause an allergic reaction- but I'll tell you what- everytime I gave it to him he got wheezy and threw up his formula for the next 3 or 4 hours. I quit giving it to him and the thrush cleared up on it's own.. not saying I recommend that- just don't take it at face value if they tell you it can't cause a reaction..
I am just glad you are smarter than I was. When my babies got thrush and 6 of them did,I believed it was inadequate parenting and did not take them to the doctorI used gentian violet. But a few months ago,I was using an inhaler and got thrush and used gentian viloet,YUK!So I learned the facts about thrush and that it is not inadequate parenting and I was an idiot when the kids were small. And there are side effects of the medication. It seemed to congest me.So you could be right.
