Hi
I am 33w and to this point have gained 48 lbs!! The last four of it being in a week!!! I am hoping that some of that last 4 lbs is water even though I don't feel bloated or swollenSwollen glands I really haven't been drinking enough lately. Hopefully, if I guzzle enough water over the next several days I will lose at least a pound or two of it, but its doubtful. Anyway, my concerns are that I am 37 years old. This is my third pg and my other two children are 16 and 13 years old. Weight does not come off as easy when you are in your mid to late 30's. Most of my adult life including my teen years I have weighed anywhere between mid 150's and 170's (not pg). I wore anywhere from a size 8 to a 14 and the only time I wore an 8 was when I was going through my divorce with my 1st dh, but within in a few months after meeting my current dh my weight and pant size went back up, although I tried to stay in the size 8 even though I couldn't breathe while wearing them LOL!! Anyway, on Jan 2, 2004 I had had enough of not really being fat (I am 5'6) but I guess more frumpy I decided I wanted to weigh 140 lbs instead of 158 and set out to lose that 18 lbs and by easter of that year I reached my goal and then kept going b/c I had decieded I didn't just want to be thin long enough for everyone to see me once and comment on it LOL, but for life and I continued to keep working out and NEVER cheat on my healthy eating plan. I got down to a very nice 133. It was perfectPerfect choice, but then my dh and I decided we were selling our house and that was very stressful b/c between the two of us we have 4 children and keeping a very small house in show condition 24/7 required a lot of work and was very stressful. Not to mention the littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys tlc things we needed to do before we could sell it. My weight went from 133 to 126 very quickly, but once we sold our house, got moved into our new house my weight began to creep back up and as perfectPerfect choice of a weight that I thought 133 was my body much preferred 136, but it was constant work of eating right and working out regularly. I remained for the most part at 136 until we started "trying" and my weight creeped up to 138 b/c I had read that too much exercise can cause you to not ovulate and given my age I didn't want to risk it so I stopped exercising all together and have been very inactive thoughout my pg. I would love nothing more than to be able to fit back into all of my jeans again. As I said I was what I considered to be frumpy all of my adult life and for those three years that I was thin I loved it!! All of my familyBirth control and family planning Choosing a primary care provider Ewing’s sarcoma Family troubles - resources and friends were convinced I had an eating disorderAdjustment disorder Anorexia nervosa Asperger syndrome Autism Autoimmune disorders Bipolar disorder Bipolar disorder Bleeding disorders Borderline personality disorder Bulimia Chronic motor tic disorder b/c I never strayed from my diet, but I obviously struggle with gaining weight easily and to me it was worth it to pass up on cake and goodies b/c at 136 I had more confidence and felt good about myself for the first time ever!!! I was just wondering if anybody would share their weight loss stories with me as I would love some encouragment!! sorry this was soooo long!!
I was in the best shape of my life when I became pregnant at 31. I went on to gain 80lbs. I was very active before pregnancy and pretty much lived on lean foods and diet drinks. During pregnancy I ate what was good for the baby and of course Pizza because I like it and I wanted it and so what. haha
Anyway, I became ill with a pregnancy related heart condition and was limited to my activity. All that hard work that went into my prepregnancy body went out the window. 80lbs at delivery. I lost 30 within a week. Then 20 on my own. I am still 30lbs overweight. It is very hard because I now have a baby and cannot go to the gym at night. I work during the day so my nights are for her. I honestly do not even care. I do my best and life goes on. You will be just fine.
Ok, here is my story. This summer I decided I wanted to get in better shape, started really watching my food intake and walking 3 miles most nights. I am 5'8" and carry my weight well anyway but I was weighing about 136 when I found out I was pregnant. My eating habits are bad, I'll admit. No breakfast and usually no dinner, just lunch and some snacks. So, now I'm pregnant, and I have to eat something for breakfast, lunch and usually dinner plus snacks or I will feel sick. My body is freaking on the change in eating habits and the weight is packing on. I am 23 weeks and have gained 23 pounds already. I am really trying to watch it now and slow it down because like you, I know how much harder it will be to get off after this baby is born (I'm 39).
Maybe we should start a weight support link where we can discuss our mounting poundages!
I gained 45-50 lbs with my first pregnancy...i ate EVERYTHING and ANYTHING...because it was my first time..and a great excuse to eat! Then my doc told me to watch it as it would be difficult to wake the weight off.
Anyway....I nursed my dd for 10 months and lost all my baby weight plus some....
This time around...i am now 27+ weeks and am 10lns lighter at this point (compared to last)....
Just ask yourself if you really NEED it before you put it on your mouth.
Good luck
dont worry it will be okay..... i know i am not your age but i gained 102lbs during my first pregancy i about died. i was always very concered about my weight i weighed 108lbs when i found out i was pregnant, then the day i delivered i was 210lbs i am back down to 130lbs and my son is almost two (in jan.) but he was big and i had a bunch of water, and didnt feel bloated or nothing. but brestfeeding will help alot to get the weight off i did for me.... i hope that helps a little.
best of luck
I was young my first preg and gained 52 pounds and lost it all relatively easy
next pregnancy I was in my late 30s and was creeping near that dreaded 50 pound mark - so as soon as I knew it was safe (if I caused too much activity) (around 34 weeks) I walked and speed walked and even a little jogged every single day - a minimum of 3.1 miles and I did not gain another pound - I worked my talk off after the birth and got down to my weight in just under 5 months
best of luck
i had just lost 55 lbs and got pregnant. i ended up gaining 56 lbs during pregnancy. i lost 22 lbs within two weeks of delivery and am currently trying to lose the rest. if it makes you feel better...i had gained over 66 lbs up until week 34 then ended up losing 10 lbs in the last 6 weeks. it was not intentional. i was actually intending to gain a pound per week. Each week when i went to the doctors office i had lost weight and they said my measurements were fine and they were actually happy that the weight was coming off since i had gained so much. as far as the 4 lbs this week. i did the same thing. i would gain 4 lbs in a day and lose 3 of them by the next day after drinking some water.
i had my baby at 36 yrs old. i was fearful of not losing it so i did keep my weight gain down, but after 10 days now and breastfeeding i have just 6 pounds left to go. the water weight can be hard to control with the holiday food high in sodium. drink lots of water, then drink more. i noticed if i ate fast food i would swell up with pounds for several days, stay away from that if you can. with my son i gained 50 pounds, not sure if i ever totally lost it all cant remember lol. you cant do anything at this point but watch what you eat and drink more water . good luck!
