Rash at 13months old...

by jjerzeegirl, Sep 15, 2007 08:33AM
Hey all,
My dd is 13months and had a fever 3 days ago-not too high...about 101. I am assuming it is from teething...she just broke her 4th tooth.
Anyway...she has had what kinda looks like heat rash over her chest and back. She has had heat rash before...but was near her neck...this is more sporadicly around her chest/back.
They are not raised or pimple like....
It's not too hot here in NJ...it's been in the 70's. But my dd plays hard and her body temp. has always felt warmer while playing...
She has had it for about 3 days now...
Should i be concerned?
btw...she's not itching or anything...and is acting her normal self...the fever only lasted one day..

thanks girls...

It might be roseola? Did she break out with the rash after the fever?

by jjerzeegirl, Sep 15, 2007 03:47PM
So yeah..i'm thinking it is roseola now. Does it spread to the face too...b/c my dd now has it on her face?!?

I called the docs and they said it sounds like it is. I think i'm going to bring her to the doc on monday if this continues...right?

I gave her peanut butter for the 1st time on wed. Would a reaction to that cause a fever or rash? It was a tiny tiny bit..the size of a pea...but i know that amount can cause a reaction...

Just looking for advice from moms with experience with this...

Yes,it does spread to the face. She's probably over the worst of it now, but make sure she gets plenty of fluids, don't let her get dehydrated. It's caused by a virus,so there isn't too much a doctor will do unless she gets a secondary infection.

Oh, and by the way, peanut butter is a no-no. Believe me, I learned the hard way and my son ended up being allergic to it. It wasn't a pretty picture.

We took her to the ER just a while ago. When she woke up from her nap, she had a 102 fever..and has not had one in 3 days...and the rash was worse on her face. So....they said it was/is a virus and it just has to work it's way through her system...
My poor little baby...my heart breaks for her..
thanks for the help!
So when do you give them p/b? I heard a year old....

Oh poor baby, I sure remember those days! Remember to keep up the liquids. You might want to try some pedialyte. My son was 2 1/2  when I gave him peanut butter for the first time and he ended up in the ER due to an allergy, so when my daughter came along, I didn't give it to her until she was 5 because I was so paranoid, but she did fine with it. I'm not sure what age they say you can introduce them to p/b...just watch for allergies when you introduce her to new foods. Hope she gets to feeling better real soon!

she seems to be doing better today...the rash on her face is gone..so that's good...
good idea with the pedialyte....i'll make sure i pick some up today...
thanks for the support
