Reaction to Immunizations....please help!

Ashtyn got 4 immunizations on Thursday and his monthly RSV vaccine injectiojn on Friday. Today he hwas developed a pimply looking, dark red rash on his leg at the site of his RSV injection. The doctor is calling me any minute now to tell me whether I have to take him to the hospital because I called the nurse-on-call at his ped's office. Has anyone else's child had a reaction to an immunization like this????

No, but if he isn't having a hard time breathing, choking, or turning blue- you don't have to worry frantically untill the doctor calls.  He'll be ok and the doctors can tell you what you need to do next.  : (  I'm sorry he is sick.  Let me know how it goes.

Did he get the HIB? There were 1.2 million of them recalled, and most of the recalled doses were caught before they were even shipped out to vaccination sites...but some still made it out. Red welts and swelling at the injection site are the known reaction to the recalled vaccines and in some cases, they have a reaction similar to that of the illness that comes on with food poisening.

I think most peds pulled the Hib..so even if he did get it...it wouldnt have been the recalled batch

Just a little suggestion for future doses of his vaccine....give him Vit C liquid before and give him an over the counter kids med for his temp. before and after....and please try and keep from getting so many at one time...from what I remember your little guy was premature....thats alot for his little system to take.

They are his 6 month shots. His doc never really tells me what they are giving him, they just hand me a sheet with info about them and call it good. HIs ped thinks the most protection is best for a preemie...who knows!
