Reflux and spitting up - Any new suggestions

Reflux and spitting up - Any new suggestions

My DD is almost 6 mos and has reflux. She is on prevacid and has no pain anymore assoicated with it but she is spitting up more and more. Her Gastro Dr. told us that it usually peaks at this time and then starts to taper off. Ok - waiting for that. She is worse now with the spit up and I do not know what to do. It has made Tummy Time hard because no matter when you put her on her stomach, she spits up. Has anyone had any experience with this? Any advice?

Have you tried feeding less more often? Also, it *starts* to wane at this time, that doesn't mean it goes away overnight. It may take until 7 mos to start seeing a decrease, it may be 8 mos. Also, are they modifying the dosage to accomodate her weight gain? Sometimes that is missed as well.

I ahve tried all of that but it does not seem to help. The Dr. told us he would not up her doasage because he felt like she was getting the approprate amount even though she has grown.

I would think either it is time to up the dose or switch meds. When was the last time you tried changing the feedings? What didn't work a month, two months ago may work now.

Depends on the kiddo and the meds.  Cameron was 1 last weekend and he is on Reglan and Zantac twice daily and Prevacid in the evening.  Even with all of this he has been outgrowing his meds and he does have the pain, he begins to scream alot at night when it gets bad, and then we get the projectile vomiting.  We hoped he would outgrow it, he goes in again next week, but I can tell the meds are not working enough anymore.  He was so gagging and pukey we had to keep him upright most of the time.  It did help to do smaller meals.  I would just talk to your Dr. about your concerns, maybe if your little one is gaining weight and not in pain they aren't as worried.  Also, some meds you need to change dosing often, like Zantac and even the Reglan we have dosed many times, but the Prevacid is one they don't really outgrow too fast.  It takes awhile, but it should pass.  I'm hoping sooner than later too, good luck!
