Relating to Jenny100 - hope results are the same, HCG levels and US

by Trigger123, Feb 01, 2007 12:00AM
A week ago Wed. my pregnancy was confirmed, lmp 11/28. Should have been 8 weeks, over the weekend I started to have a very lt. amnt of pink show when I wiped after using the restroom. The Dr. wanted me to come in for an us on Monday morning.  The us showed only about 6 weeks, a gestational sac and a yolk sac, but no fetal pole or heartbeat.  She sd not a good sign, could be, baby stopped growing and ready to mc. Blood work done on Monday showed HCG level at 15,635.  Two days later (yesterday) it showed at 15,342 (down by 300).  Another cause for alarm.  I have another us scheduled for this next Monday.  They have told me to prepare for the worst, that it does not look good.  From everything I am reading though, shows that it does happen at that early stage to not show a fetal pole or heartbeat.  I have also read that when your HCG reached the level mine has, that it takes for more than two days to double, and that it does not increase at the same rate.  If anyone could shed light on this, I would sure appreciate it.  I am 38 and already have a 14 and 12 year old. My husband and I have been married 18 years, and this was quite the surprise, and what a wonderful gift. Talk about turning your world upside down, and now this news.  Praying for a miracle.

I do not believe hCG levels should ever drop unless you are around 10-12 weeks, but I would think they would be higher. But then again, they say not to make much of hCG levels, so I could be wrong. Good luck!!

Could you be less than 8 weeks pregnant? Maybe you are only 6? Could that be possible?

It is possible.  During the time ovulation should have been taking place, for about 2 months we had enormous stress in our family with some medical issues of another family member.  It is possible that my cycle was very messed up.  The us dated me at 6 weeks.  I am very nervous.  My next us is Monday morning at 7:30am.  Even if I am off on the dates, and I was at 6 weeks when they did the us, my hcg levels were at 15,635 on Monday, and 15,342 on Wednesday.  I don't know what to think.  It is hard to pretend that everything is normal and going about my day as though everything is ok, when a life feels like it is on the line.  I think I am totally against all this early testing they do now, which they never use to do.  I think all it does, is makes everyone a nervous wreck.  I have enough experience with doctors to know that they seem to give you the worst case scenario, believing that if it turns out better, you'll be happy.  I think it is horrible.
