Removing Vomit From Couch?

Out of the clear blue today, my 2 year old threw up all over the couch. I got as much as I could off the couch, but there is still a stain and that awful smell. Any suggestions to remove the stain/smell?

i got the bissell little green for puke and potty training messes this christmas. it's been used for all of it's intended purposes already. puke on the couch was the most recent (2 nights ago). DH has also used it for the dreaded milk spilled in the car.

There are also products sold for things like pee and vomit; we get "Nature's Miracle" at the pet store.  It works great.  If you don't have anything fancy like the Bissell Little Green, another thing that more people have around is a Shop Vac.  You can slop a ton of soapy water on something fabric (like the sofa or a rug) and then shop-vac it out, then slop on a ton of rinse water, and shop-vac it out.  Having a wet vacuum around is a godsend for these situations.

If you can unzip the fabric off the cushion then do that.  And completely saturate it in soapy water.  Then soak down the spot on the foam insert with water/cleaner too.  I learned that one not from having a child but by going to college.  Darn roommates!  LOL

With vomit, pee, etc. you have GOT to use something that ***** it up and out. If you dont you will never get rid of the smell.
You should invest in something like a carpet cleaner now, because I promise you will have many other chances to use it! The "little green" is a good choice if you wouldnt ever want to do all your full carpets--but if you think you would, invest in a full size carpet cleaner. It will have a hose attachment to use on the couch.
If you cannot afford it, they can be rented.

I do think it is WEIRD that we cant say s u c k s. That is a word that has a lot to do with motherhood and kids, which is what our forum is about!

ha...love the whole s u c k s issue. i think im gonna get the little green b/c  im about ready to potty train my 2 y/o and then when my youngest is ready ill be prepared for him too!
