Rh Negative

Rh Negative

I have a question, I'm Rh negative.  I just lost my 3rd pregnancy, 1984 I had an abortion, and they gave a me shoot after it.  Last year I had a miscarriage and they didn't give me anything after.  August 1 I miscarriage by Prostin termination, no heartbeat at almost 9 wks, after they did the procedure they gave me a protective injection of RhoGAM or MICRGram Rho(D) Immune Globulin (Human) Ultra-filtered.

My question is can I get pregnant againt?

I have a doctor's appointment next week, but I was just wondering if any one can help me with this.

Thank you very much

Hi there.

I'm not sure about all the medications they gave you.. But about the Rh factor:

If you're negative, AND the father's positive, at the time of delivery (of the first baby), blood mixes between you and the child. Your body then starts to make antibodies to fight the Rh factor. It only becomes a problem if you get pregnant again with Rh+ father.. Then your body will fight the baby's blood.

Nowadays, they just have to give you some kind of injection before the birth of the first baby, and you'll be fine.  I'm not sure how miscarriages or abortions figure into this... Let us know how the appt. goes.

Hi,

I am also Rh negative, I have had 2 abortions and one miscarriage (baby died at 9 weeks and I had to have a curette done to remove baby) and have just had my first baby 16 weeks ago.

When I had the abortions 6 years ago they gave me an antiD shot after both and also after the miscarriage 2 years ago. Throughout my pregnancy they gave me AntiD shots again ( as the father is A+) I think I had 3 in total but in Australia it only just changed half way through the pregnancy where as a precossion they are now doing this throughout pregnancy and after the birth.

As far as I was told this does not affect your fertility it is only to prevent your body making antibodies to fight the baby.

goodluck!

I agree with the post above that it is only to prevent your body making antibodies to fight the baby.
I am 0- and with my first two the doctor had my blood type highlighted on my notes and when the baby was born they would test what blood type the baby is and if it was + then they would give the injection against the antibodies. Both mine were rh-. I am 18weeks pregnant with my third and the midwife will check babies rh type and if its positive will give me the injection.
I didnt know that the rh type of your partner had anything to do with it and never heard of getting injections during pregnancy. Im not sure what blood type my partner is. I guess in New Zealand it is done different.

Anyway good luck and all the best.
