Saline Infusion ultrasound

My doctor has suggested me to have the Saline infusion ultrasound if my spotting continues. Does anyone no what this is? does it have any risk? Why did my doctor suggested this? pleaaaase halp:(

I have never heard of this. I found a website that expliains it though, this is what it says:

Hysterosonography, also known as sonohysterography or saline infusion sonography, is a special, minimally invasive ultrasound technique. It provides pictures of the inside of a woman's uterus.

A Doppler ultrasound study may be part of a hysterosonography examination.

Doppler ultrasound is a special ultrasound technique that evaluates blood as it flows through a blood vessel, including the body's major arteries and veins in the abdomen, arms, legs and neck.

It is also a valuable technique for evaluating unexplained vaginal bleeding that may be the result of uterine abnormalities such as:

congenital defects
masses
adhesions (or scarring)
polyps
fibroids
atrophy

Doppler ultrasound images can help the physician to see and evaluate:

blockages to blood flow (such as clots)
narrowing of vessels (which may be caused by plaque)
tumors and congenital malformation
