Seriously Itchy Breasts! Any ideas on relief???

by tinad, Feb 05, 2007 12:00AM
I'm a little embarrassed to be asking you guys about this but I can't stand it anymore! I'm 10 weeks 1 day and for the last four days my breasts have itched really bad! I've scratched them to the point I've made marks on them that look like hickies (sp?) and they still itch! I don't know what to do. I can't exactly scratch where it itches when I'm at work...LOL. Does anyone have any ideas? I've tried using a lotion in case they were just dry but that hasn't helped. I'm open for any suggestions.

I hope someone has the cure or at least some relief even if it's only comedic relief! Thanks everyone!

Maybe try using some callimine lotion or cortizone.  I am haveing to use cortizone on my belly because of a itchy rash.  I have scrached so much my rash has scabs on them.  I just called the dr. to get my glucose tolerence test results and the nurse said she would need to talk to the dr. and call me back becuse mine was a 53, I am assuming she ment 153 so I guess that is on the border line.  Does anyone know anything about this?  Sorry to Hijack your question, but I didn't think you would mind;-)

You are definitely not the only one!  My entire body has been itching like crazy the past week (I am 19wks3days).  It's really cold where I am, so that and the dry heat don't help.  What I'm finding to be helpful for the breast area (and my stomach, which itches terribly I'm guessing from the stretching) is Udder Cream (I know, it sounds gross).  Here, you can get it at Trader Joes.  If you have a Whole Foods or some other type of healthy food store, you can probably get it there.  The jar is white with black spots - like a cow.  Good luck!

Of course I don't mind. I wish I had an answer to your question but I haven't had that test yet so I don't know what to look for. I hope someone can help you. Thanks for your suggestion. I'm desperate to try anything as long as it's considered safe for the baby. Keep me posted on what your doctor says. I hope everything is okay.

Someone told me your breast itch either because they are dry, or because they are stretching.  Maybe try putting something cool, like a cold washcloth on them and see if they feel any better.

Also i failed my one hour a week and half ago, i think my number was 147.  And i just took the 3 hour friday, (they poke you like 5 times) Anyways, i don't have those results back yet. Have heard that alot of people fail the one hour and pass the three hour. Good luck

So I am not the only one :-)  My itch also and I have made red marks on mine as well.  I just try not to think about it and it goes away.  Maybe it is them getting bigger

Olive oil.  It is natural and contains no chemicals.

I've always heard that with anything, if it itches, don't scratch it- you'll make it worse.
I'd put on a little lotion - the good stuff, and let it air dry. And add a little baby powder, cuz I have moisture problems...
I know there are all these special creams on the market, but from what I hear, it's diet that helps your skin to be elastic- nothing can help you more than drinking plenty of water and eating the right kind of fats. (I think the kind in things like olive oil and almonds and things.)

A friend of mine had this - so I cannot speak from PERSONAl experience, but she used vitamin E oil and cream and that seemed to help.... not sure but perhaps you can try it?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll try each one until I find one that works. So far I've only tried using an unscented lotion in case my skin was just dry but that hasn't seemed to help. I'll let you know if any of your suggestions work. Thanks again!
