Sharp Pain 8 weeks after Ectopic pregancy surgery...is this normal?

by wolfemm, Jun 04, 2007 12:00AM
I had an ectopic pregnancy that burst 8 weeks ago.  I lost the entire right tube.  My right side feels completely fine, no pain at all.  However, my left side is extremely sensitive.  Sneezing and coughing hurts on the side that had no damage.   Touching or rubbing that area in hopes of soothing causes more pain.  I have been more sensitive on the left side ever since the surgery.  It has gotten worse over the last couple of weeks.  It started really being painful and uncomfortable right about my 6 week check up.  All of the doctors that I have seen have thought that it is unusual but none have been interested in checking it out.

Is this normal?  A friend thought that maybe something was left inside during surgery.  What kind of pain would that indicate?  Should I push to have my doctor look more into this?

Any advice would be helpful.  Thank you so much in advance.

Sorry you're going through all this. I also had an EP, and I still have sharp pains at times. All I can say is that your body is healing still, and has probably some form of scarring, which can cause pain. If you feel you need to be seen than go in, only you know. I hope the best for you, any other q's let me know.

I had my left tube rupture only a week ago and my belly hurts so bad that I can not wear jeans even. When will it end? That and I am so sensative now ans very emotional.

I lost my left tube in December & have been healing for 7 months now.  The pain will begin to diminsh as time goes by.  But you need time to heal.  I also know that your emotional pain will ease as well.  It is difficult & hard to understand why this would happen to me,  It seems to be so easy for everyone else.  Just try & keep up your courage both mentally & physically.  Try & take it easy for the next few months.  It has been 7 months for me & I still continue to feel some pain.  It does get better.  I hope you have family & friends to help you in this time.  I would not have been able to make it through it without them.  Talk out your feelings. People will be afraid to bring the topic up, thinking it may upset you.  So bring it up if you  need to,  You'll get through this & it will get better. I promise!

I was browsing a similar situation and came across this forum.  I had an EP that started rupturing and had surgery 6 weeks ago and I still get sharp abdominal pains on that same side.  Thank you to a.s. for that supportive post.  That was something I desperately needed to hear from someone who went through it.  My family hasn't been exactly supportive and many people dont understand the magnitude of damage this has on a woman, especially emotionally.  I have trouble talking about it and it has been taking its toll on me physically. I'm more susceptible to illnesses and depression is hitting me hard.  I'm starting to reach out and am relieved that it does get easier.

I had Ectopic Surger two weeks ago tomorrow to remove my left tube that was starting to rupture.  I have lighter pain on my left side that resembales the pain from the ectopic and vaginal pain that is like voltz it creeps into my left leg and butt.  I feel much better than the stabbing pain I was having before surgery, however I do NOT feel 100%.  I also feel extremely run down.  My stomach has been a mess and my bowels are a mess a well.  I have low low back pain that is almost in my butt.  I did have a D&C with the Lap surgery, I am hoping these pains and symptoms are normal.  My tolerance for pain and feeling run down are getting lower by the day.  I feel like I am never going to feel back to complete normal.  Does this seem normal?
