Should I go to the ER?

by kris123, Jun 20, 2006 12:00AM
I have posted a lot of questions on this website. Thanks everyone for you support.  I have one last question.  Wed of last week my levells were check (HGC), they were 19000 and 2145 36hrs later.  My doctor said m/c and I have been bleedin heavy since Friday.  In all I have noticed blood since Tues of last week 8 days.  I am pretty sure that I am going through a m/c.  Should I visit the ER and get a blood test again?  Should I get a dc done.  Lost?

so sorry for your loss. you should definitely call your dr. for them to check you out - from my experience bleeding didn't last so long after m/c - how heavy is the bleeding though? your dr. should look at you and i think the d&c would be decided if you didn't already m/c everything naturally. please call and tell your dr. what you're experiencing so they can see you and see what needs to be done. good luck. keep me posted.

what did your doctor suggest??  and yes i believe you are going thru a m/c (sorry for your lost). but you may pass everything naturally so a d&c may not be necessary.  follow up with your dr and they will do another blood test to see if everything has been passed why go to thru the ER and acquire that huge bill?  i hope that helped keep us posted.

Your bleeding is normal, but if you feel like it's too much then go to the DR. About the D&C, I would hope you m/c naturally because I heard it takes longer to heal and to TTC again right after a D&C. Take Care, be strong,(((HUGS))) I'm so sorry this is hard for you. When I m/c both times it was naturally and the bleeding lasted 5-6 days. But, I m/c at 5-6 weeks, that's still early. So, there's not to much too be expelled from me.

I went through 28 pads (thin long) from Friday to Sunday morining.  I change about every hour or two.  It is still bright red.  I will call the doctor.  He said to wait it out.  I called back yeserday and he didn't call back.  I said I was concerned because I do drip blood everytime I go to the bathroom, everytime.

i just reread your post - if real bleeding didn't start till friday then it's not so crazy that you're still bleeding - it just depends on how heavy it is. if spotting before i believe that's normal and could happen. i guess it also depends on how far along you were in the pregnancy - i m/c both times mid 7th week so it really didn't last long and both were natural. i would still go for follow up with your dr. though - call and keep them updated on what's going on.

I filled up about the same amount of pads or more. I would also be dripping everytime I went to the bathroom. You do lose a lot of blood during m/c, it's like a super bad period. I hope the bleeding tapers off soon for you. I went to the ER with my first m/c and that was such a waste of money. I knew I was m/c but wanted to know for sure, so I went to the ER, and they just told me I already m/c and charged me $800 for it. I stopped bleeding that night, figures huh? I hope it all turns out alright for you!

According to the us I was 7weeks.  I will count friday till now.  Thanks everyone for all the information.  It helps to know that there are other woman who are going through this and who have gone through this.  How long should the bleeding last?

how far along were you in the pregnancy? did you see or feel any tissue or larger clots pass? i see you called your dr., but if you're not comfortable with the response call again and tell them you're concerned and want to come in.

I passed some bit clots and I think on very large one, not sure because it was so heavy it was down before I could see it.  I saw no grayish stuff.  This sounds gross but the clots long like fish meat with a lot of blood on it.  Some I have felt coming out.  This I beleive is the m/c.  I have bad cramps just one night.

just wondering if anyone could explain why my hcg levells went up 1424 before I started m/c.

by duehring, Jun 20, 2006 12:00AM
Because the baby was probably developing up to a certain point and then something went wrong. My last miscarriage my hcg was 16,000 when they checked it because they couldn't find the hearbeat. Then 2 days later it was up to 21,000. I still went on to miscarry a week later.

I bled for about 2 weeks. You can lose ALOT of blood when you miscarry without it being bad. I actually went to the ER because I could not contain the blood in pads it was coming out so fast and my blood count was still fine. I did get anemic before my miscarriage was over and had to take iron pills for awhile.

They gave me a choice if i wanted to have a d&c and I chose not to and I am glad I waited it out.

to me it does sound like you m/c. during my first m/c i passed what i thought was the sac (which sounds like the fishtail thing you're describing), but once i passed i bled like a period for that day and then it let up - i don't think it should be very very heavy if passed stuff already, but then again it depends on where you were holding with the pregnancy - what week were you up to?

The sac measured 6weeks and 6days.

I had a d & c done yesterday under the advice of my doctor.  He said that I had already passed most of the pregnancy and I should just shorten the process by getting the d & c.  He said that waiting to completely m/c would involve alot more bleeding, cramping, and probably emotional distress.  Plus, he said that sometimes waiting to pass the rest of the pregnancy will cause infection.  Since I had little left, it took local anestetia (sp?), 5 minutes, and I was on my way home.  I bled for about 6 days before getting the d & c.  Hope everything works out ok.

i would definitely call your dr. to have everything checked out. if you passed tissue and you're still bleeding very heavy you want to make sure everything passed - it could be they'll tell you to wait another day or two, but describe what's going on so they can reassure you all is ok.

I am actually going thru the end of my m/c right now (was 6 weeks and 3 days). I have been bleeding since the 8th of June but its been VERY light. VERY small clots. My levels have been checked and everything is expelling naturally :(  So i guess everyones is different. Sorry for your loss. I am feeling your pain. This is my 2nd in 6 months after ttc for 3 years.
