Someone please have an aswer for us?

by Slipstream, Jan 06, 2005 12:00AM
My wife is just about to enter her 19th week of high risk pregnancy. At about 16 weeks she started bleeding and we were very scared. We went to the ER and they said that absolutely nothing was wrong. We then got to the O. B. who immediately checked for a cervical infection. (Which my wife had)

My wife was prescribed "metro gel" and used it for a week and the bleeding stopped. Then all of a sudden today she noticed a brown discharge of some sort of tissue. It happened again today so she called her OB right away.

Her OB said to schedule an appointment for the following day. She said that she's not too worried about it if my wife was bleeding.

I'm just trying to protect my wife and my 5 month old baby.

Someone please tell us what's going on? No one can give us an straight answers.

I meant to say that the OB said that she wasn't worried if my wife was NOT bleeding.

Brown blood usually means is it just old blood.  The gel may have stopped the bleeding externally and some built up internally.  I would still check withe doctor just to be sure.

I would have an u/s done.  Has the heartbeat been checked and if so was all ok????  When I had my miscarriage I had a D&C and a piece of the placenta was left at the tip of my uterus I passed a piece of that and it did resemble raw hamburger (sort of)  I am not trying to say that is what your wife did but that is my story.  I am assuming all seemed fine with the baby.  I would not worry too much if the dr is not.  I have heard of babies born at the stage your wife is at and with LOTS of care they can survive.  Good Luck to you and let us know how it goes

We have an OB appt. schedualed for tomorrow at 11:45am CST.

I'm sure we'll check the heartbeat. The good news is that my wife thinks that she has felt the baby move since then.

I ernt online and looked up the side effects of "Metro Hel Vaginal" and I found that 550 non pregnant women had similar discharges after usage.
