Ok well most of you ladies know that I've been battling depression and life just plain isn't making it any better. The doctor gave me some zoloft. I went and picked it up today and am supposed to start taking it tonight, but I am so worried to take anything new. I don't want to hurt my DD and I guess I'm just paranoidParanoid personality disorder Paranoid schizophrenia Schizophrenia - paranoid type cause I know a lot of you ladies took it and other antidepressants during pregnancy and your babies are fine. I dunno, new medicines always make me worry.
I just wanted to say we al go through ups and downs in our pregnancy. Have you tried to pray about this? God is always here for you, he is always listening! He does not give us more than we can handle so hang in there! You were blessed to have your baby God already knows your gonna be a good mother, so hang in there and take one thing at a time and just "BREATHE" Take care
Don't worry, my Dr. told me that zoloft is just fine in pregnancy. And if you breastfeed it's actually one of the better choices. After my last baby, my Dr. and the lactation specialist in the hospital, put me on zoloft. So don't worry, it's perfectly safeSafe driving for teens Safe sex .
I could be wrong, or everybody is different, but you might want to check the bottle to see what time of day you are supposed to take it. Mine says to take it every morning with breakfast. My Dr. told me to be sure to take it at that time. But like I said, everbody might be different.
Good luck!
My sister suffers from depression, and did when she was pregnant too. I really should ask her before I post this (to find out names), but she was on a few med's when she was preggo and her son was born with a cleff (sp?) lip. But was perfectly healthy other then that. Doctor said the med's would be fine but we beleive otherwise. I REALLY don't want to scare you,but maybe do some research online before you take it. My sister was amazed how meny forums she found on depression... but of course this was after her son was born.
Depression on top of all the hormones is tuf- it's a struggle as to whether it's better to get thru the pregnancy or try to deal w/ the symptoms now. I think if you discussed it w/ the dr. and he went ahead and prescribed it, it must've seemed like the benefits outweighed any risks. Remember, too, depression meds. take a couple weeks to reach their peak and really make you feel better, so I'd get started....
please take it if the dr feels its for the best. post pardom can be very difficult as well, and if you start now maybe you will be the happiest mom very soon. you dont have to take it forever.
Zoloft is safe during pregancy and breastfeeding. I would follow the advice of your doc and/or pharmacist in terms of when to take it but I found that when I took my antidepresant in the morning I was so tired so I switched to the nightime and it made a huge difference.
Hi!
I am so sorry you are going through this!!! I too suffer from depression. The dr put me on Zoloft as well. He didnt do so lightly. He told me it was safe, as far as he knew but that is never a guarantee. BUT he also said that my state of mind and medical state are just as important! I am now feeling "human" again and I am able to have a relationship again with my family. I hope you do take it and begin feeling better. People that do not suffer from depression do not understand that "praying about it", etc (though helpful) isnt the only thing you need! If you need anything, I will be here for you!!!!
Van- O.k. I'm not trying to be niave about depression, b/c at times I feel like I'm on the brink, but maybe (in all sincerity) I need to be educated on what the classic symptoms are. Maybe I or others suffer and don't even know it...I know I too say I will pray for you but maybe I just better not post/comment if you all are tired of people TRYing to be sensitive who are not experiencing exactly what you are experiencing. But do keep in mind that not everyone deals with a situation the same way! Please share with me so I can be enlightened!
HI Bizeemom,
Prayer is a wonderful, wonderful thing! I would NEVER discourage ANYONE from praying for me! Or anyone else! What I was commenting to was someone had stated that maybe all she needed to do was pray about it and go from there. Yes, prayer does help but God also gives us Dr who in turn treat us appropriately.
Depression is not easily explained. Some people only suffer from it temporiarly and "get out of it" some of us aren't so lucky. If you met me, you'd never know. But without medication, I am unable to function. It's like a diabetic without their insulin.
I hope I didn't offend anyone.......xoxox

No, I wasn't offended and thank you for your response. But like I said, maybe I and others may need to know what some of the symptoms are b/c I know I can't honestly say I've never had postpartum, but is postpartum just a nicer word for depression. Really, no offense taken! xo
I understand your fear of taking the new meds but I always try to understand taht docs are very cautious. They wont prescribe you something that could harm you or your little one... they are too afraid of lawsuits and wouldn't risk it if it werent safe. You do what you need to do to get better and get to the day when that bundle of joy is in yoru arms! Good luck!
