Sounds like my little girl...she was a big girl too.
My girl ate almost a full jar (smal jar)...maybe leaving 1-2 spoonfuls then about 3 ozs of milk 30 minutes later....I always let her stomach settle from the food first.
I always gave her as much as she wanted...not worrying about her size. Both DH and I have families that are skinny minis and were large babies.
She is now 2 and a skinny little thing but still eats as much as she wants.
dd used to eat until she was full, and that would be only about a third or fourth of a jar, but then again shes never been a heavy eater, shes one today and still doesnt eat a whole jar(of course there bigger now, she leaves about a fourth now, in the stage 3)
i agree with the above poster, milk is more important at this point
my 1st ds was like your dd. I just fead him until he was full. Sometimes a jar, jar and a half. I knew he was getting pleanty of milk, juices between feedings. In my experience, they will stop eating when they are full
Hi--I would just feed her until she is full. They know when they are full--they will push away the spoon or jsut not take it. They are grwoing and need all the nutrients possible. Unless your baby is overweight according to the charts, then I would not worry about her eating too much food!!
Also, if she has teeth, I would start with giving her soft solid food--pasta--she can gum most if it too. I have been giving my baby the Gerber Graduates little meals for awhile since she has teeth. She chews it in the front and gums in the back. It helps promote chewing food and making the switch. Also, gerber has finger foods under their Graduates plan--there are puffs that melt in the mouth, but that the kids can chew a little. The solids will fill her up faster and you will find that she might eat a little less--Good Luck
Just feed her until she pushes it away or turns her head. My son started out eating an entire container of food twice a day. I had to start giving him two containers at each feeding shortly thereafter. He moved onto eating three times a day before he was 7 months (he started solids at 6 months). Once he started eating bananas he would easily eat an entire banana. He always ate a lot and has just recently cut down on his food intake.
DD does not have teeth yet (kind of wish she did) She paws at our food all the time! SHe was born with a sensitive tummy which is why I am starting out easy on her (SHe is on lactofree milk).
She is just so big now, I can find no clothes to fit her even 18 mo. are tight around legs/tummy but too long in arms/legs. I just feel like I am feeding her every 2 hours and wanted to see if that is normal at her age.
