Spit up or Throw up? Difference? Help plz!!!

by Shawndell, Nov 04, 2009 08:29PM
What's the difference between spit up and throw up??? My daughter is 6 weeks old. She's been on her formula since 3 weeks. She just started spitting up recently. I know spit up is normal...but how do I know when its not??? After I feed her, she'll burp, then 15-30 mins later formula comes up. I feel she might choke! I plan on calling her dr. soon, but wanted to check in with you all first. How do I know if it's the formula or something. I appreciate all answers.

You will know when she throws up it will be everywhere and she will cry and let you know if something is wrong.

I understand your concern. I think it's just spit up that hasn't digested yet. My ds had the stomach flu at 6 weeks and it was a disaster.  It would be more often if it were "vomit" and eventually turn to bile I would guess. That's what happened to us.  It always is a fear they will choke, but believe me she'll get it out and be just fine :)
