Spotting Again

by Mali, May 02, 2003 12:00AM
I know this question has been asked over and over, but perhaps I just need more reassurance and advice from anyone who has gone thru this with similar circumstances.

I am 39 yrs old and pregnant for the first time.  I am 7wk1 day since conception and I have spotted brown - light, less than 1 teas, every two weeks since conception.  Is this normal?  This morning when I saw the brown stain on the liner my heart sunk to the ground.  I am very upbeat really, but I work all day and am wondering if more bedrest would be beneficial.  Any thoughts?

I had a miscarriage last week with similar spotting patterns.  I was told by my doctor that I would have miscarried whether I rested or not.  I had a blighted ovum.  Very common type of miscarriage.  Have you had a sonogram?  I had a total of three over a three week period and only saw a placenta and never a developing embryo.  I hope that this is not the case for you, as spotting can be very normal in a pregnancy.  It just worries me that yours has been off and on for two weeks (like mine).  Go see your doctor for blood work and sonogram if you haven't already.  Good luck.

When I m/c I had spotting quite often. It's been a long time though. I hope all goes well for you. You should really have this checked out as you never know what is going on. Good luck.

I have had that kind of spotting, although mostly with bm's.  It's better now that I know that some spotting is normal in some pregnancies.  I am now 9wks, have seen the baby, hrt was 165.  Feeling more reasurred, but won't really feel like I can take a big sigh until 13 weeks.  I'll pray for you, too.  Try to to get depressed, although I know that is a difficult thing to tell someone when they cry at a commercial.  I can relate.

Thanks for your comments.  I am going into my 8th week, brownish mucus discharge continued all weekend.  I am scheduled for blood work and another sonogram on May 22.  The fetus hrt was 147 and all looked fine on April 23.  We'll see on May 22.  Keep the faith.

Try not to worry I spotted (sometimes bright red) for the first 4 months of my pregnancy and I am now 7 months and baby is fine.  While it is not neccessarily "normal", it does happen and could be nothing.  It looks good for you since you have seen the baby and heard the heart.

I agree with Reglyn, it's awesome that you're seeing a healthy heartbeat.  I never saw a heartbeat with this pregnancy that I just lost.  I spotted alot but it was a blighted ovum...no heartbeat or embryo was ever detected...I have a good feeling about this..I'll pray for you.

Thanks for your comments.  Went to the br last night and, low and behold, a single spot of bright pink blood.  I about had a heart attack.  It's reassuring that other people have been through this.  I just try to let God take care of it however it will be. It's not easy, sometimes.
