Spotting and no hearbeat in ultrasound? Any hope for this?

by wantobemom, Aug 31, 2005 12:00AM
My last day of period was July 5th.  My Hcg on 08/04/05 was 109.5.  My Hcg on 08/15/05 was 2994 and US only showed a sag.  I was bleeding heavily after the Pap that day the reduced to little brown spots then to almost nothing.  On 08/24/05, I noticed some dark brown discharge then some light pink discharge after intercourse on 08/25 then much more brownish discharge (so dark that it looks black).  My US on 08/29/05 didn't not pick up any heartbeat and the "sag" was now bigger with something like "embryo" inside.  I'm still waiting for bloodwork results and continuing to have brownish discharge and red and brown particles and flakes in my urine.  Both of I and my doctor think that I'm going through a miscarriage.  Any hope for me?  I'm so distress over this news.  Is it too early to pick up the heart rate now?  Is it normal to have brownish spots/discharge during the first trimester?  and, why is it brown?  I'm coming back on 09/01/05 for the results and another US and I'm so nervous to face the truth.

you are still really early.
Are they going to do another HCG?  Good luck.  I bled off and on a lot in the beginning and am now 25 weeks

They did another beta, hcg, progesterone on 08/29/05 and I'm still waiting for the result.  I don't want to lose any hope just yet but I'm scared.

Try not to worry too much about the heartbeat, it is still extremely early.  The amount of bleeding is a bit alarming and does indicate a m/c, however if your hcg levels are continuing to rise normally then you are still pg.  The brown blood is "old" blood and generally not viewed as alarming as red "fresh" blood.  So, the brown blood is good if there is going to be blood.

Good luck and I'm sorry you are going through this.

I gave birth to 3 kids and with all three pg's I had a period the first 2 months. My kids were all fine.

Hi. I was wondering what you were able to find out? I to am having similar issues. I had my last period on 8/14 and then on 9/1 I started having a thick brown discharge. Not a lot just enough for a panty liner. Im concerned though since this is way too early for another period.  Does anyone think this could be implantation bleeding? Then after having sex recently i had a very light pink discharge when i wiped only. It last only 1/2 a day. HELP.. I dont know when I should test. Do I need to wait till 9/14 or can I test sooner... anyone out there with a similar issue??? Thanks and sorry for the graphic description.

I just wrote to you, but it just occurred to me how similar our stories are: my last period started on 8/8 and starting light spotting with brown discharge on 8/30 (day 23) My cycles are normally 28 days. So again any help would be fantastic.
