Spotting during early pregnancy

by 2boysmomma, Feb 18, 2007 12:00AM
I am 6 weeks pregnant with 3rd child.  I never had spotting or bleeding with first two sons, I have light brown spotting for two days now. Anybody know if this is normal?

Sometimes when the placenta attaches, it pulls away a little, or bleeds upon implantation. Spotting happened to me at 6 weeks also and that is what was found on the ultrasound--an implantation bleed. It's not usually a problem and it grows back securely and everything is fine in the vast majority of cases.

As long as it is brown the Dr doesn't worry. Brown is old and it must make it's way out of you.Bright red is what they tell you to worry about. Also cramping. If you just have a little brown spotting, I wouldn't worry. It seems to be very common.
It also could be simply an irritated cervix if you  have had intercourse, or even if you haven't.

yes, I had light brown spotting and pretty good cramps early on. The dr says it happens and as long as it's not a gush of dark blood, your are fine. it could be many different things, but it's most likely nothing to worry about. I'm 26 weeks and everything is completely fine. Seeing you didn't have this happen with your two boys, maybe your having a girl. I didn't have any spotting with my daughter but I did this time and I'm having a boy. If it's something that really is bothering you, call your doctor. That is what they are there for. Good luck!!
