by destrysmom, Jan 01, 2008 02:00AM
I have a 13 month old that I cant seem to get over the Stomach flu...she seemed to be over it and now she isn't throwing up during the day, she is eating a drinking (although not as much as normal) but then two nights in a row she has thrown up after being asleep for a few hours then she nurses and goes back to sleep???
I am just worried about her losing weight she has dropped to 14 pds from 20.

Take her into the doctor.  See my post about Stomach Flu.  My 15 month old is on her 4th day of this.  Put her on the BRAT diet (Bananas, Rice, Apples, Toast).  My pediatrician also recommended CULTURELLE.  It can be found in CVS and even Walmart.  THey have it for kids also, but the recommended dosage for children on the regular CULTURELLE is the samr as the one for kids..so if if you don't find the one for kids, the regular one is fine.  CULTURELLE is a probiotic (similar to cultures found in yogurt) it will at least help with her immune system, and with my daughter, it helped slow with the diareah.  After eating/drinking try keeping her upright for a while.  You know that when you are nauseated or feel dizzy, laying down can make it worse esp on a full stomach.  Just make sure she gets hydrated one way or another==it is a nasty bug that seems to last a long time and from what I was reading, the first time a child gets it is the worst, because their immune system has not fought one off before.

Good luck, I am battling the same flu ---it will pass soon.

Man, that horrible stomach bug is everywhere!  Let her doctor know she has lost so much weight.

I would take her to the doctor or hospital immediately if she's lost 6lbs in such a short time frame. Good luck and I hope your daughter gets better soon.

All these posts about the stomach flu are worrying me. I hope it doesn't travel north to us here in Canada. It sounds like a really, really nasty bug. Yikes!
