Sudden Weight Gain, Increase BP...

I’m 23 weeks pregnant. Starting on Sunday I have this headache that isn’t going away and I’ve vomited from it. This morning I had slight swelling in my hands and around my eyes. I also found some shock when I stepped on the scale and gained 4 pounds since yesterday. Being that I work at a small clinic I did a Urine test on myself which showed 100+ protein and 100 Glucose. I also normally run 107/60 for BP and was at 130/83. Of course the clinic wants me to come in…however, I’m at work until 8pm tonight and 8-8 tomorrow. Anyone go through anything similar? I don't know if I'd wait to be seen.  Can't you get an hour off for a medical problem like this?  I'd be concerned about the kidneys.

I have horrible migraines like this all the time. I actually have to get an MRI Monday because of it. I've had them since I was 16 but being pregnant made them worse and I can't take the Excederine Migraine that usually gets rid of them. I found on the internet that migraines are normal during pregnancy but there's one thing that worries me about what you say about the swelling. I don't know what would cause swelling. You should go to the doctor and get evaluated. Good luck to you.

go to your doctor. you may need blood work and a 24 hr urine collection. symptoms sound familiar.

as for the weight gain... i actually found that my weight fluctuates that much in a day too. but the rest is very concerning.

Hi Ladies,

I did go to the clinic today, she doesn't think we need to worry about preeclampsia because I've never had it previously. She said it sounds like it is just a result of me being on my feet all day and retaining fluids (when I got to the clinic you could leave finger prints in my legs).

I'm normally a small person (weight wise) I'm 5'10...It just bothers me that they're pushing it off as working too much. Only time will tell I guess.

Just because you didn't have it before does not mean you can't have it now! did she check for protein in your urine???

Yes there was protein.

protein is not good, not normal and should not be in the urine, please dont let this go,  I had an awful time after delivery of my twins, things that happened before their birth should have been addressed better, just letting you know, based on my expierence and I am also an RN. do not let this go.
