Sunburn during pregnancy
I am in my second trimester and two days ago, stupidly, became quite severly sunburnt on my legs.
Although they haven't blistered, they are very red and sore. I have also noticed that my ankles are now swollen.
Could this be a result of my sunburn, and is it hazardous to my unborn child?
Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I would put a call into the doctor just to be safe, but my initial thought is that baby should be fine. Just keep well hydrated, lots and lots of water! And take Tylenol for pain if needed. Double check with your OB or Pharmacists about which OTC sunburn treaments are safe, I believe Aloe Vera Gel is safe, unless it contains vitamin A (too much Vit A has been linked to birth defects, normal amounts in a prenatal and what you would get NATURALLY from foods, not fortified foods, is fine.Just watch the lotions and creams that contain it)

Anyway, keep cool and remember your sunscreen next time!

I have been severly burnt by the sun TWICE
Once I even went into convulsions because of it and had to stay in emergency for three days
If it has not blistered  I would imagine all will be okay
Keep drinking lots of water and fluids ( gatorade, powerade have electrolytes in it)
I found that putting nothing on it and just leaving it to the air worked best!!
Now I stay out of the sun -I dont care how white I am,Its  not worth going through that again!
