Swelling

This weekend my feet were starting to swell.  I am only 19 weeks and am worried about this.  I had high blood pressure with my son, but never swelled at all.  This time my blood pressure has been fine so far, but my feet were pretty swollen last night.  I live in Oklahoma and the temp. was close to 90 yesterday.  My son was born in the winter, so I'm sure that has something to do with the swelling or lack of.  Do you think this in normal to have swelling already?  I feel great, but noticed my flip flops getting tight both last night and Saturday.

Make sure you get your bp checked on a regular basis.  Try to keep your feet up as much as possible.  When you lay down, lay on your left side as this helps with circulation.

I had a lot of swelling with my ds.  I actually did physio after he was born as I had pitting edema.

One of the simple exercises they had me do at home was stand on tippy toes.  I did this will washing dishes, brushing my teeth, etc.

I have been swelling with this pregnancy and my last pregnancy since 12 weeks.  My feet, hands legs and arms.  I never had high blood pressure with my first DD just swelling and so far with this one no high PB eather.  Dr. said it was normal to have swelling with no other problems, but since you have a history of high BP I would call the dr. and let them know.

As a matter of fact, i spent most of the night in hospital, because i was so concerned with the swelling of my feet. I know alittle bit is expected but mine got really intense during the course of the day and night. Also, i was having headaches and alittle dizziness. I was really worried it was pre-eclampsia. Im currently 39w2d. So when dh got home (at 12am) we went straight to the hospital and i saw one of my midwives at the delivery suite.

They checked my blood pressure twice in 2 hours and then my urine twice as well. She said i had a small trace of protein but that it was normal. She gave me panadiene forte for the headache, took some bloods and 4 hours later i was sent home.

I really sympathise with you.. my feet feel horrible. I just wear slippers and really comfy slip-ons. I cant wait till all this water retention dissapears.

Just dont miss any of your antenatal appts and if  your ever worried or develop any new symptoms go straight to your hospital.
