So my fiance doesnt want me to take Draeven (4 mnths) to the swimming pool at a motel near by that lets me use their spa & pool.. He thinks the chlorine isn't safeSafe driving for teens Safe sex . but don't babies go in swimming pools all the time? I want to take him swimming :(
Wildblue, hotel swimming pools are notorious for not getting their chlorine levels "right". Well-run public pools, and private pools are are well-tended are much better.
It is my understanding that you shouldn't put a baby under six months in a pool because babies under six months cannot regulate their own body temps very well and do not retain heat very well.
Along with what Tanker said, I also read somewhere you shouldn't let babies swim until 1 yr because their lungs cant handle the pressure because they are still developing. I would wait.
i used to take kids swimming at the Y. my skin would burn after swimming in the water. i also don't like indoor pools because i get headaches from all the chemicals in the air. And i know that the Y very carefully monitors chemical levels.
If he's in an indoor hotel pool chances are very high the chemistry isn't right, and he'll get an outer ear infection if his head goes underwater.
Been there, done that. If you can put him in a baby ring or something and make SURE his head doesn't go underwater it would be better.
I think I'll take your advice and try to find a private pool... thats a good idea
I would wait until 6 months at the least.
