For the swelling, try and soak yuor feet.
And for the pain, go to a walmart and try and find some Blue EMU. It works wonders. I know because I had a crushed ankle when I was 19 and now I am 24 and when I hurt I ALWAYS use Blue EMU.

I have very sore hands.  My feet hurt only from the knuckles of my toes to the tips of my toes and that is the only place I swell on my feet.  My hands are somewhat swollen but I do massage so I was thinking maybe that is what my knuckle pain is.  I also have achy knee joints but only notice that when I walk down the stairs.  I have no idea what to do for it.  This morning I woke up to one numb hand.  Took me forever to get feeling back.  Seems like maybe we just have to wait it out.

Hi, My first question would be how far along are you? I had trouble with my feet swelling in my first and second trimester, I am now almost 37 weeks. Swelling in the hands and feet can be a sign of many things, if after staying off your feet and keeping them elevated atleast 2 hours and they continue to swell I would definately call your doctor as it could be a more serious sign of "preclampsia" swelling is often the biggest sign, it may just be that you are retaining water or that you are on your feet to much, but with swelling as you described both in your hands and feet, Id definately call the doc asap to rule how preclampsia.. Hope this helps some.. Good Luck!!

Sorry, I am 30 weeks tomorrow. Thank you both for the info some times I feel like my face might even me swollen but I am not sure if I am just being paranoid. I think I will check with the doctor just to be sure.

I am 35 weeks today. My swelling is horrible. I drink tons of water, low sodium diet and get exercise. My blood pressure is good, so no fear there-but it is very uncomfortable.

The hands tingling with the swelling and pain is driving me nuts. My OB says carpal tunnel is very common during pregnancy. They must swell and hurt/tingle a zillion times a day. mainly the first three fingers and thumb.

You are not alone!

sorry, what is blue emu?

by babylove2006, Jun 19, 2006 12:00AM
Blue EMU is for arthritis. It is located at Wal-Mart with the Icey Hot Cremes. You can get it in a tube which has the smell of menthol or you can get it in a jar with no smell. Hope this helps.

I had the carpal tunnel really bad with my second pregnancy. I have had 3 babies since that one and never gotten it again.

I was told to go buy some wrist braces from the drug store and wear them and it helped so much. Especially wear them at night and the tingling is not nearly as bad. Mine got so bad I couldn't even change my other baby's diaper. My fingers were completely numb.

I have no idea why I only got it during one pregnancy and not my others.
